ElevenLabs Engineering Jobs: How to Apply in 2026 (What the 255 Open Roles Actually Contain)

Standout Editorial Team13 min read · August 24, 2026

We built Standout because the application-driven job search is broken, and ElevenLabs is a clean example of why. Its careers page lists 255 open roles and tells you almost nothing about what is inside them. This page is the version we wanted to read: the real board, pulled directly.

ElevenLabs is an AI audio company valued at $11 billion whose careers page lists 255 open roles. Ninety-one are engineering. But 62 of those 91 are field deployment jobs posted one per country, and only three engineer-titled core roles are US-based. The headline number is not the opportunity.

The 255 open roles collapse to three, and the arithmetic is public

We pulled ElevenLabs' public Ashby board directly instead of reading an aggregator's summary. The API returns exactly 255 postings, matching the careers page headline of 255 positions across 53 locations (Source: elevenlabs.io/careers). ElevenLabs is not padding: all 91 engineering and research postings carry distinct titles, none reposted across cities to inflate the count (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026). That is rarer than it should be, and worth saying before the harder part.

Here is the harder part. Ninety-one of the 255 sit in Engineering and Product plus Research, and sixty-two of those 91 belong to one team: Enterprise Deployment. That is 19 Deployment Strategist, 18 Enterprise Solutions Engineer, 16 Forward Deployed Engineer and 7 Deployment Strategist Lead, spread one to four per country across about twenty countries. Two of the 62 are in the United States (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026).

Strip those out and 29 core engineering postings remain. Nineteen carry Engineer in the title. Three of the nineteen are US-located, and one of those is a studio Audio Engineering Lead. Across the whole board, 51 of 255 postings are in the US, or 20% (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026).

The hot take: a US software engineer reading "255 open roles" is reading a number in which their own share is two. That is not a reason to skip ElevenLabs. It is a reason to read the location and team fields before the job description. Sort the board by team first. Ninety seconds, and it is the difference between applying and guessing.

ElevenLabs got 31,000 applications in a single month, and it says so itself

This is not an estimate from a prep site. ElevenLabs published it. Its own recruiting blog states that "In July 2025, ElevenLabs received over 31,000 job applications" and "In the first half of 2025, we conducted 3,200 interviews" (Source: ElevenLabs recruiting blog).

Those figures cover different windows, one month against six, so we are not dividing them into a conversion rate. Anyone who does is inventing a statistic. What the pair establishes is scale.

The texture is stranger than the number. ElevenLabs built two AI voice agents, AI Becky for go-to-market and AI Oscar for technical recruiting, modelled on real recruiters. They go out daily to candidates already invited to interview, answering questions on process, benefits, remote policy and culture, freeing recruiters "to focus on more meaningful conversations" (Source: ElevenLabs recruiting blog). To be precise, because prep sites get this wrong: these agents screen nobody out and do not run the interview.

The hot take: a company that had to build voice agents to keep up with its own candidate correspondence is telling you in public that the form is saturated. Read that as information, not discouragement. If you apply cold anyway, apply to one requisition you can name a specific reason for. The reason is the only thing that survives that volume.

Where the engineering demand actually is: forward deployment, in twenty countries

Sixty-two of 91 engineering postings on one team is not a rounding artifact. It is a strategy, visible in the hiring mix before anyone announces it.

Follow the revenue and it makes sense. ARR went from $330 million at the end of 2025 to $600 million by June 2026, and 41% of the Fortune 500 now use the platform (Source: Sacra). Enterprises do not deploy voice agents by downloading them. ElevenLabs runs a product page for forward-deployed engineering describing FDEs who "work alongside customer teams to scope, architect, and launch production-ready AI systems," spanning "system design and integrations to change management, scaling and compliance." It is also hiring a Forward Deployed Engineering Recruiter, a recruiter whose whole job is staffing that one function (Source: elevenlabs.io/agents/forward-deployed-engineers).

You do not dedicate a recruiter to a stopgap.

Eight of the 91 engineering postings are US-located in total. (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026)

The hot take: candidates are queueing for three Full-Stack requisitions in the UK while sixty-two doors stand open on the team funding the company's enterprise revenue. If you can write code and sit in front of a Fortune 500 customer without flinching, that is the least contested engineering hiring at an $11 billion company. Check whether your country is on that list before assuming Full-Stack is your only route.

Core engineering is a London company, not a San Francisco one

Aggregators file ElevenLabs under Bay Area AI. The board disagrees.

Seventeen of the 29 core engineering postings are in the United Kingdom or London. All three Full-Stack Engineer variants, general, back-end leaning and front-end leaning, are United Kingdom, as are Data Engineer, Infrastructure Security Engineer, Safety Engineer and Engineering ElevenAPI. Android Engineer, Detection Engineer, IT Engineer, Website Growth Engineer and Martech Engineer are London. San Francisco carries exactly one posting on the whole core engineering list, and it is IT Support (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026). The hub headcounts point the same way: London 113, New York 75, San Francisco 43, Warsaw 26 (Source: elevenlabs.io/careers).

The stated policy runs the other way, and deserves quoting. The careers FAQ says "We have a hybrid setup, with main offices in London, New York, San Francisco, and Warsaw... At the same time, we strive to hire the best talent wherever they are, and support working remotely". Every posting adds "We prioritize your talent, not your location" (Source: ElevenLabs job posting body). Visa support is "considered on a case-by-case basis" (Source: elevenlabs.io/careers FAQ).

Both are true at once. Only one is a plan.

The hot take: "we hire anywhere" and "the roles are in London" coexist on the same website, and the board decides where you get paid. If you are a US engineer set on ElevenLabs, the honest options are the two US requisitions, a relocation conversation, or waiting for the board to change. Pick one before you spend three weeks preparing.

What it pays, and the number the median cannot tell you

Levels.fyi, updated the day this was written, puts median US Software Engineer total compensation at $345,000: $245,000 base plus $100,000 annual stock, no bonus, across a $230,000 to $445,000-plus range (Source: Levels.fyi, updated August 2026). In the UK, where most core engineering roles actually sit, the median is £191,000 and the top reported package £287,097 (Source: Levels.fyi UK, July 2026). Levels.fyi does not disclose sample size, so treat both as directional.

Roughly 29% of that US median is equity, and it cuts the opposite way to what candidates assume.

The hot take: a grant struck at $11 billion has already priced in the run that made the headline (Source: ElevenLabs blog, February 2026). The tripling happened before you signed. Do not negotiate against the $345,000 figure. Negotiate against the three questions it cannot answer: what valuation is the grant struck at, what is the strike price, and what does refresh look like at year two. Ask all three on the compensation call. Confirm the benefits on the same call. They are specific: flexible paid time off with a company-wide shutdown for one week at year-end, learning and development and social travel stipends, a co-working stipend if you are not near an office, and a one-time work-from-home stipend, with local benefits varying by region (Source: elevenlabs.io/careers).

They are not public, whatever the pre-IPO pages tell you

The primary source settles this in one call. SEC EDGAR lists Eleven Labs Inc., CIK 0001977921, Delaware, with exactly one filing in its entire history: a Form D filed 17 May 2023 (Source: SEC EDGAR). No S-1, no registration statement, no periodic reporting. An EDGAR full-text search for "ElevenLabs" restricted to S-1 forms returns two hits and neither is the company, just unrelated filers who mention it (Source: SEC EDGAR full-text search).

Here is why the question keeps getting asked. Search EDGAR for "elevenlabs" and the first entity returned is not the company. It is "ElevenLabs 36 a Series of Denver Ventures I LLC," a Delaware series vehicle that filed its own Form D (Source: SEC EDGAR). A numbered series thirty-six deep exists to pool outside money into ElevenLabs shares, which is exactly why pre-IPO marketplaces have a commercial reason to rank for these queries.

The hot take: $500 million from Sequoia at $11 billion in February 2026 (Source: ElevenLabs blog, February 2026), $781 million raised in total (Source: TechCrunch, February 2026), and none of it is an IPO. Before valuing a single share of any offer, spend ninety seconds on EDGAR yourself. It is free, it is primary, and it settles in one search what an afternoon of pre-IPO blogs will not.

The loop, and the one question nobody can answer for you

Start with what ElevenLabs publishes, which almost nobody ranking for this keyword quotes. The careers FAQ: "Steps vary by role, but most processes include a pre-screen, virtual interviews (sometimes with a skills assessment like a take-home or case study), a hiring manager conversation, and a final round with a founder or Bar Raiser" (Source: elevenlabs.io/careers FAQ).

Third-party guides go further and should be read as third-party. Exponent documents five stages, puts the full process at "about two to five weeks," and the coding screen at "roughly 90 minutes for two to three medium-difficulty questions" (Source: Exponent). Glassdoor reports a 25-day average across 113 submitted interviews, captured through a search index rather than the page itself because Glassdoor blocked our fetch (Source: Glassdoor, via search index; direct fetch blocked).

Sources: stage list and durations from Exponent and jobsbyculture; the final-round description is ElevenLabs' own. (Sources: Exponent; jobsbyculture, 2026; elevenlabs.io/careers)

The round that differentiates this loop is product decomposition. Exponent calls it "a miniature hackathon, not a whiteboard exercise," a realistic customer scenario you build against rather than another algorithm puzzle (Source: Exponent). That fits the culture copy in every ElevenLabs posting, which says the company has no job titles and that what counts is the impact you have (Source: ElevenLabs job posting body).

Now the gap, stated plainly. No public source says whether you may use AI tools during an interview round. The careers FAQ is silent. Exponent, DesignGurus and TechPrep all omit it. ElevenLabs postings do say the company is AI first and uses AI to move faster across the business (Source: ElevenLabs job posting body), but that describes how employees work, not what is permitted in a coding round. Treating one as evidence of the other is a guess dressed as guidance.

The hot take: at a company that calls itself AI first in every job posting, whether AI is allowed in the practical round is the highest-value question available to you, and no article can answer it. Ask the recruiter on the first call, in these words: in the practical coding round, is an AI assistant available, expected, or off-limits. One question in week one beats three weeks preparing for the wrong interview.

Eight front doors, one Ashby form

Page one for this keyword is two ElevenLabs requisitions, ZipRecruiter, Glassdoor, a niche job board, and the careers page. All of them funnel into the same Ashby board. One API call against that board gave up the team distribution, country spread and US count that none of those surfaces shows (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026).

On the odds we will not give you a number, because ElevenLabs has not published one. It disclosed volume, 31,000 applications in July 2025 (Source: ElevenLabs recruiting blog), and no channel breakdown. Any claim that referrals are some percentage of hires here is invented. The counter-fact stands too: cold applying is still the most common way people get jobs. Most common is not most effective.

From the matches we run, the pattern is consistent. The people who land seats at companies hiring this fast almost never get there by being one more row in the same form.

Standout is not an ElevenLabs application channel. We have no backdoor into ElevenLabs, and anyone telling you they do is not being straight with you. We place in the US only, which is exactly the thinnest slice of this board. So the honest framing: when a company has two US requisitions, a talent agent's value is not prying open those two doors. It is knowing which other US companies want the same skills this week, so a saturated board stops being your only plan. That is how Standout's matching works, and a different mechanism from how Standout compares to job boards.

The hot take: page one is not eight opportunities, it is eight middlemen selling a click to one form, and every one of them hides the field that decides your odds. Go to the board itself and read the team and location columns before you write a single cover letter.

Rulings, one per person:

  • Engineer outside the US who can do customer-facing work. Apply today, to the Enterprise Deployment role in your country. Least contested hiring on the board.
  • UK-based product or platform engineer. Apply directly. Seventeen of 29 core roles are yours. This is your board, not an American one.
  • Security or detection engineer. Apply directly. Five open roles across London, New York, Tokyo and Australia.
  • US-based engineer wanting core product work. Do not build a plan around this board. Two requisitions, one published over a year ago. Look wider.
  • Everyone else. Let us match you.

FAQ

How do you apply for engineering jobs at ElevenLabs?

Applications go through elevenlabs.io/careers, which routes to an Ashby board of 255 postings across 53 locations (Source: elevenlabs.io/careers; ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026). Filter by team before title: 62 of the 91 engineering postings sit on Enterprise Deployment, and only three engineer-titled core roles are US-based (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026).

Is ElevenLabs publicly traded?

No. SEC EDGAR shows Eleven Labs Inc. with one filing in its history, a Form D from May 2023, and no S-1 (Source: SEC EDGAR; SEC EDGAR full-text search). Pages suggesting otherwise exist because numbered pre-IPO share vehicles holding ElevenLabs stock file their own paperwork and rank for the query (Source: SEC EDGAR).

How much do engineers make at ElevenLabs?

Levels.fyi puts the median US Software Engineer package at $345,000, made up of $245,000 base and $100,000 in annual stock, across a $230,000 to $445,000-plus range (Source: Levels.fyi, updated August 2026). UK median is £191,000 (Source: Levels.fyi UK, July 2026).

Does ElevenLabs hire engineers in the US?

Yes, but far less than its profile suggests. Fifty-one of 255 postings are US-located, and just three of those are engineer-titled core roles. ElevenLabs says it hires "the best talent wherever they are" (Source: elevenlabs.io/careers FAQ), while seventeen of 29 core engineering roles sit in the UK or London (Source: ElevenLabs Ashby posting API, August 2026).

How hard is it to get hired at ElevenLabs?

ElevenLabs received over 31,000 applications in July 2025 alone (Source: ElevenLabs recruiting blog). The loop runs about two to five weeks across five stages (Source: Exponent), with Glassdoor reporting a 25-day average (Source: Glassdoor, via search index; direct fetch blocked). The volume is the obstacle, not the interview.
