Replit Engineering Jobs: How to Apply in 2026 (The Real Board, the Loop, and What Page One Gets Wrong)
We built Standout because the application-driven job search is broken, and the Replit engineering search is a clean example of why. Eight of the nine results on page one for this keyword are aggregators reselling the same form. The ninth is Replit. This page is the version we wanted to read: the actual board, pulled directly, with the numbers that decide whether applying is worth your week.
Replit is an AI coding platform valued at $9 billion after a $400 million round in March 2026. You apply at replit.com/careers, which routes to an Ashby board carrying 38 open engineering roles. The loop is four stages before an offer, and the technical round runs inside Replit itself.

Page one is quoting a valuation Replit outgrew, and an IPO that never happened
The second-ranking result for this keyword still tells candidates Replit raised $250 million at a $3 billion valuation. (Source: Welcome to the Jungle, captured Aug 2026) That was accurate in September 2025. It was superseded on March 11, 2026, when Replit raised $400 million at $9 billion, led by Georgian Partners with Andreessen Horowitz, Coatue, Craft Ventures and Y Combinator participating. (Source: TechCrunch, March 2026) The valuation tripled in roughly six months. (Source: TechCrunch, March 2026)
It gets worse than an old number. Search Replit's corporate status and you find a page titled "IPO Complete — $14.5B" and another reporting an S-1 filed on March 12, 2026. (Source: TechStackIPO and pre-IPO marketplace pages, captured Aug 2026) We checked the primary source. SEC EDGAR shows REPLIT, INC., CIK 0001920974, incorporated in Delaware, with exactly two filings on record: a Form D on April 11, 2022 and a Form C on April 7, 2022. There is no S-1. There is no registration statement. A full-text EDGAR search for S-1 filings mentioning Replit returns zero results. (Source: SEC EDGAR)
Replit is private.
The reason those pages exist is the useful part. EDGAR's company search for "Replit" returns four entities. Only one is the company. The other three are special-purpose vehicles that hold Replit shares on the secondary market, with names like "Replit-01 Opportunity, a Series of Replit Opportunity, LLC". (Source: SEC EDGAR) Pre-IPO share marketplaces have a commercial reason to rank for Replit IPO queries, and they do.
The hot take: equity is roughly a fifth of the median Replit package, and a candidate who believes the company is public will misprice an offer badly. Before you value any grant, spend ninety seconds on EDGAR yourself. It is free, it is authoritative, and it settles in one search what an afternoon of pre-IPO blogs will not.
There are 38 engineering roles, and 17 of them are not senior
Replit's own Ashby board carries 71 open postings. Thirty-eight are Engineering, with GTM at 20, G&A at 6, Support at 5 and Brand & Creative at 2. (Source: Replit Ashby board, Aug 2026)
One thing deserves saying plainly, because it cuts against what this page otherwise argues. All 38 engineering titles are distinct. Replit does not repost one requisition across five cities to inflate the count, a common enough trick that its absence is worth naming. (Source: Replit Ashby board, Aug 2026) The board is honest. That matters for how much weight you give everything else on it.
The distribution is where the useful information sits. Of the 38 roles, 17 carry no seniority prefix at all, meaning they are open to mid-level individual contributors. Eight are Staff, seven are Manager or Lead, four are Senior, one is Principal, and one is a Summer 2027 Software Engineering Intern. (Source: Replit Ashby board, Aug 2026) By team: Product Engineering has 12 openings, Security 7, Platform 6, SRE 4, with Design Engineering & Mobile and Product Operations at 3 apiece. (Source: Replit Ashby board, Aug 2026)
The hot take: Security being the second-largest engineering hiring area at a company whose entire product is running other people's code is the most informative line on the board, and it is invisible from every aggregator that ranks above Replit's own careers page. If you have security or infrastructure depth, you are looking at a board with seven open doors while everyone else queues for Product Engineering. Sort by the team, not the title.
The technical round happens inside Replit, and nobody can tell you whether the AI is allowed
Start with what Replit publishes, which almost nobody ranking for this keyword reads. Four stages before an offer: recruiter, hiring manager deep dive, a technical interview where you "complete a live or take home exercise and meet with an individual from the team to review it together," then a panel with the people you would partner with directly. (Source: replit.com/interview-process) Replit's stated promise is "No gotchas — just authentic challenges similar to what you'll encounter at Replit," and it says it is assessing "how you think, create, and collaborate." (Source: replit.com/interview-process)
Third-party guides, which are not Replit and should not be read as Replit, describe that screen as roughly 60 minutes of live coding inside Replit's own editor, building an API endpoint, a React component or a CLI tool, skewed heavily toward JavaScript and TypeScript, with algorithm puzzles rare. (Source: Interview Coder, May 2026)
| Stage | What Replit says it is | Reported format | What it tests |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Recruiter | "Tell us about your career journey and professional goals" | Screening call | Motivation and basic fit |
| 2. Hiring manager | "Deep dive about your experience and technical abilities" | Manager conversation | Depth behind your resume |
| 3. Technical | "Complete a live or take home exercise and meet with an individual from the team to review it together" | Reported ~60 min live, inside Replit, JS/TS | Whether you can ship in their environment |
| 4. Panel | "Meet with members from the team and stakeholders that you would directly partner with" | Team panel | Collaboration and cross-functional fit |
| 5. Offer | — | — | — |
Now take that "authentic challenges" line literally for a moment. What an engineer encounters at Replit is Replit's own AI tooling. So can you use it in the screen?
No public source answers that question. Replit's careers page is silent on it. Replit's interview-process page is silent on it. We looked at both.
It goes further than absence. A quote attributed to Replit's CTO, comparing banning AI from interviews to banning calculators from math tests, circulates widely in prep content. We fetched the page that quote is attributed to. It contains no such quote, no mention of a Replit CTO, and no mention of Replit's AI policy at all. Multiple targeted searches failed to locate any primary source for it. We are not going to repeat it as fact, and neither should anyone else.
The hot take: the prep industry has manufactured a Replit AI policy out of nothing, and candidates are being asked to prepare for it. Ask the recruiter on the first call, in these words: in the technical round, is the AI assistant available, expected, or off-limits? One question in week one beats three weeks of preparing for the wrong interview.
Foster City is not San Francisco, and there is no remote US engineering job
Aggregators tag these roles "San Francisco, CA." The board says otherwise. Of the 38 engineering roles, 36 are in Foster City, CA. The other two are Remote-Europe, both on the SRE team. There is not one remote-US engineering opening at Replit today. (Source: Replit Ashby board, Aug 2026)
Replit's careers page is specific: "The majority of our team works together at our Foster City HQ on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, while others work remotely or from our satellite offices." (Source: replit.com/careers) Foster City sits roughly 25 miles down the peninsula from San Francisco. Three anchored days from the city is a different life than three from San Mateo.
The hot take: if you are a US-based engineer who needs remote, this board has nothing for you today, and no amount of application polish changes that. Read the location field before you read the job description, and if it says Foster City, price the commute before you price the offer.
The benefits are genuinely strong: a $2,000 HSA contribution for individuals and $4,000 for families, $1,000 annual learning and development reimbursement, 24 weeks paid birth-parent leave, and 12 weeks paid medical, bonding and family care leave. (Source: replit.com/careers)
What Replit pays, and the question the number cannot answer
Levels.fyi, last updated the day this was written, puts median total compensation for a Replit Software Engineer at $308,000: $240,000 base plus $67,900 in annual equity value, no bonus. The reported range runs $212,000 to $308,000+, with a top reported package of $680,000. The median reflects a senior engineer with five to ten years of experience. Equity vests over four years with a one-year cliff. (Source: Levels.fyi, updated Aug 2026)
The hot take: that $67,900 equity line is the least stable number on this page, and not because Levels.fyi is wrong. Submissions from people who joined before March 2026 describe grants struck against a company worth $3 billion. The company is marked at $9 billion now. (Source: TechCrunch, March 2026) The same dollar figure buys a proportionally smaller slice of the same company. That is arithmetic, not speculation. So do not negotiate the headline number. Ask what valuation your grant is struck at, what the strike price is, and what a refresh looks like at year two, because at a company repricing this fast those three answers move your package more than your title does.
Two honest limits. Levels.fyi does not publish its sample size for Replit, and no public source states Replit's current grant terms for new hires. We are not going to invent either one.
Eight front doors, one form
Look at what ranks for "replit engineering jobs apply": ZipRecruiter, Welcome to the Jungle, Simplify, Indeed, LinkedIn, and the portfolio job boards at Contrary, Abstract Ventures and a16z. Eight surfaces. Every one funnels to the same Ashby board that Replit's own careers page links to, and the only result that is actually Replit ranks ninth. (Source: SERP analysis, Aug 2026)
We pulled that board directly. One API call produced more than all eight aggregators combined: the real role count, the seniority split, the team distribution, and the location field showing zero remote-US engineering jobs. (Source: Replit Ashby board, Aug 2026)
The hot take: page one is not eight opportunities. It is eight middlemen selling a click to one form, and the "1-Click apply" button at the top of the highest-ranking result is optimized for application volume, which is not the same thing as your outcome. Go to the source board and read the location and team fields yourself before you write a single cover letter.
On the odds, precision matters. Pinpoint's analysis of 4.5 million applications found referred candidates are 7x more likely to be hired than job-board applicants, and 11% faster through the process. (Source: Pinpoint, Oct 2023) That is cross-industry applicant-tracking data, not a Replit measurement, and nobody should present it as one. Replit publishes no application volumes, no conversion rate and no response time, so any specific Replit percentage you find online was invented by whoever published it.
The counter-argument deserves its due: cold applying is still the most common way people get jobs, including at Replit. Most common is not most effective. It is the default because it is the path of least resistance.
From the matches we run, the pattern is consistent. The people who land seats at companies hiring this fast almost never get there by being one more row in the same form.
Standout is not a Replit application channel. We have no backdoor into Replit, and anyone claiming one is not being straight with you. What Standout does is different in kind: you build one profile, we match you against US tech companies hiring right now, and if you say yes, we introduce you directly to the founder. (Source: Standout) First matches arrive within a few hours of profile completion, across every role a tech company hires for, and it is free for candidates. (Source: Standout) That is how Standout's matching works, and it is why it differs from how Standout compares to job boards.
| Applying through a job board | Getting matched by Standout | |
|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | You, per company, per listing | We do, once, across every company |
| Who you are ranked against | Every inbound applicant to that req | A shortlist built from fit |
| Who reads you first | An applicant tracking system, then a recruiter | A founder or hiring manager, directly |
| How current the information is | As current as the page you found it on, which may be quoting last year's valuation | Roles we are actively matching for right now |
| What it costs you | Your time, unpriced | Free for candidates |
| Speed | A four-stage loop, plus queue time before it | First matches within a few hours |
So, concretely, by who you are:
- Security or infrastructure engineer in the Bay Area: Apply directly, today. Seven open security roles is a rare window, and it will close.
- Mid-level IC who can be in Foster City three days a week: Apply directly. Seventeen of the 38 roles are open to you.
- Senior or Staff engineer: Apply, but spend a week finding a referral first. The 7x is cross-industry, and it is still the best-evidenced lever you have.
- US-based and remote-only: Do not apply. Nothing on this board is for you, and pretending otherwise wastes your month.
- Everyone else: let us match you instead.
FAQ
Is Replit publicly traded?
No. SEC EDGAR shows REPLIT, INC. with exactly two filings on record, a Form D and a Form C, both from April 2022, and no S-1 or registration statement. (Source: SEC EDGAR) Pages claiming a completed Replit IPO are contradicted by the primary source. The pre-IPO marketplaces that rank for those queries are selling access to special-purpose vehicles holding Replit shares, not public stock. (Source: SEC EDGAR)
Does Replit ask LeetCode questions?
Rarely, by every available account, but Replit has not published a policy either way. Replit's own description of its technical round is "a live or take home exercise" reviewed with someone from the team. (Source: replit.com/interview-process) Third-party interview guides report the round skews to real product feature work in JavaScript and TypeScript with algorithm puzzles rare, though that is their characterization and not Replit's stated policy. (Source: Interview Coder, May 2026)
How much do engineers make at Replit?
Levels.fyi reports a median total compensation of $308,000, made up of $240,000 base and $67,900 in annual equity, with a range of $212,000 to $308,000+ and a top reported package of $680,000. (Source: Levels.fyi, updated Aug 2026)
Does Replit hire remote engineers?
Barely, and not in the US. Of 38 open engineering roles, 36 are in Foster City, CA and two are Remote-Europe on the SRE team. (Source: Replit Ashby board, Aug 2026) Replit describes itself as hybrid, with most of the team in the Foster City office on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. (Source: replit.com/careers)
What is the best way to get hired at a company like Replit?
Get introduced rather than queue. Cross-industry data from an analysis of 4.5 million applications puts referred candidates at 7x more likely to be hired than job-board applicants. (Source: Pinpoint, Oct 2023) Standout has no special access to Replit, but it replaces the apply-and-wait loop with direct introductions to founders at US tech companies hiring now, free for candidates.
