Own it end to end
You'll take ambiguous problems and see them through, from figuring out what to build to shipping it to production.
We're hiring
AgentPhone is building telephony infrastructure for AI agents. We're a two-person, Y Combinator-backed team looking for our first engineer.
The global telecom industry was built for humans. AI agents can reason and plan, but they're blocked from acting in the real world because they don't have a phone identity. We're changing that.
AgentPhone gives each agent a dedicated phone number so it can make and take calls, send and receive SMS, MMS, iMessage, WhatsApp and RCS, and complete real tasks without a human in the middle. Developers get one API and one unified webhook for voice and messaging, with Python and Node.js SDKs, a REST API and native MCP support. We handle the telecom compliance work - STIR/SHAKEN, A2P 10DLC, KYC and carrier registration - so they don't have to.
We were founded in 2026 by brothers and long-time collaborators Manav Modi and Meet Modi, and we're part of Y Combinator's Spring 2026 batch. We're headquartered in San Francisco and currently hiring a Founding Engineer in New York.

Our engineers speak directly with the developers building on AgentPhone. What we build comes from what they need.
As our first engineer, you'll write production code and set up how we work, including testing, CI/CD and observability.
We're building for AI agents, and we use AI coding tools extensively in our own work. We look for people who do the same.
If you want real ownership on a small founding team, we'd like to hear from you. Apply for our Founding Engineer role.
