About the role
We are looking for a Staff Infrastructure Engineer with 7+ years of experience to be Tabs' first dedicated infrastructure and reliability engineer. We want a software engineer who builds things, not someone who only maintains them, to take our AWS foundation from good to great. Tabs serves about 500 customers and processes roughly 1B invoice items a month, and we expect both numbers to grow 2–3x over the next 12 months.
What will you be doing?
- Building out Tabs' security infrastructure in your first 90 days so we can support complex enterprise and compliance-heavy customers
- Redesigning our AWS, Kubernetes and Terraform architecture to handle 2–3x growth in customers and data volume, including the move off ECS/Fargate
- Taking full ownership of reliability and observability: SLOs, alerting, incident response and postmortems
- Writing production-quality code and automation that cuts down repetitive manual work and lowers operational risk
- Working closely with the VP of Engineering and the 4-person platform team to set infrastructure direction for the whole engineering org
Key Requirements
- 8+ years of experience (6+ at top-tier companies), with a software engineering background rather than pure SysAdmin or SRE maintenance work
- Hands-on production experience with Terraform and Kubernetes (required); AWS strongly preferred
- A track record of building infrastructure (scaling it from 1 to 10) in environments with a few to a couple hundred clusters
- At least one stint at a high-caliber Series A–C startup
- Able to work on-site in Soho, NYC, 5 days a week (4 is possible)
