About the role

We are looking for a Head of Product Engineering with 3+ years of experience, including hands-on people management, to lead and grow the eight-person team building the products on top of Reducto's document AI models. We want a builder who thinks like a PM: someone who understands AI products from the inside, knows how to reason about evals, and knows what makes B2B software worth paying for. Reducto's revenue has grown 8x year over year, and our customers now range from Harvey, Vanta and Scale to Fortune 10 enterprises. We need someone to set the product engineering direction as we expand from parsing into a full agentic document platform. This is a player-coach role in our SF office, reporting to the VP of Engineering and working directly with our founders.

What will you be doing?

Shipping production code as an engineer on the team for your first few months, then taking full ownership of the eight-person product engineering team while staying hands-on
Shaping what we build, and how, together with the founders, the product team and enterprise customers, using an AI-first product lens to drive features like form filling, translations, document editing and classification
Holding a demanding quality bar for UIs that are fast, reliable and precise, and that make complex document workflows feel intuitive. No AI slop, and no settling for 90%
Owning hiring for product engineering, sourcing and closing great engineers as the team grows
Working closely with the Platform and ML teams to roll out new models and deployment capabilities, and defining how we use AI in our own building process

About Reducto

Reducto is a Series B team in San Francisco, founded in 2023 by Adit Abraham (CEO) and Raunak Chowdhuri (CTO), who met at MIT. Chowdhuri had published computer vision papers with over 100 citations before finishing high school. The company went through YC Winter 2024 and has raised $108M from a16z, Benchmark, First Round, BoxGroup, and YC.

The machine learning team is eight people and reports to the CTO. It runs a mix of in-house models and larger open-source ones, and an ML tech lead role is expected to be filled around the new year. Engineering is in the office five days a week near Union Square and Market, which is intentional at this stage.

In document parsing a comma versus a period turns $20,000 into 20.000, so sloppy work is a real red flag. Engineers are expected to hold technical conversations with enterprise customers, not just stay in the code.
