It also pulls in data from top technology providers to reward contractors with strong loss-control practices with lower premiums, which benefits customers, broker partners, and Shepherd alike. The company serves 630+ customers with $500B+ in insured project value and has grown nearly 3x year over year. It plans to expand into trucking, real estate, medical practice, and other verticals.
Shepherd has raised $67M in total, including a $42M Series B led by Intact Private Capital and announced in March 2026. Intact is also a capacity partner. Other backers include Costanoa Ventures, Spark Capital, Susa Ventures, Y Combinator, Greenlight Re, and Era Ventures. The company says it has years of runway.
Shepherd is led by co-founder Mo Mahallawy, who previously built marketing technology products at Airbnb, and a co-founder who earlier started a construction tech company and sold it to Autodesk.
