Growth Strategy Intern - Market Research (Medical Student)

About the role

About Roon

At Roon, our work began on the patient side. Our team has shipped apps for more than 40 health conditions serving millions of people worldwide. This experience showed us how powerful the right digital tools can be for improving care. It also revealed how much physicians need better support in their own workflows and professional lives. Roon is now building the digital home for physicians - a trusted community platform where doctors connect, collaborate, and advance clinical knowledge together. Our team combines deep expertise in tech and health with support from world-class investors including Firstmark, Forerunner, Sequoia, TMV, and SV Angel.

About the Role

Roon is seeking a curious and analytical medical student to join our team as a Growth Strategy Intern. This person will help us understand and map physician communities across medical specialties and subspecialties, informing how we grow Roon’s physician network. What You’ll Do

  • Conduct market-mapping research across medical specialties and subspecialties
  • Identify influential physicians, emerging leaders, professional communities, and relevant organizations
  • Analyze specialty dynamics, including key topics, trends, relationships, and digital communities
  • Explore how physicians connect and share knowledge across platforms such as Doximity, X/MedTwitter, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and specialty-specific forums
  • Use AI tools such as Claude to make research and analysis more efficient
  • Present findings and recommendations to Roon’s growth and medical teams

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on experience developing growth strategy for a physician-focused health technology platform
  • Exposure to physician community building across a wide range of specialties
  • The opportunity to own meaningful research that directly informs company decisions
  • Experience working at the intersection of medicine, technology, and strategy

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in medical school or a related health sciences program
  • Previous experience and/or demonstrated interest in start-ups, technology, or entrepreneurship
  • Able to commit at least five hours per week for a four-month contract
  • Strong research, organization, and analytical skills
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of defined projects
  • Familiarity with medical specialties, physician networks, and the broader healthcare landscape
  • Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude
  • Familiarity with social media and trends within online physician communities, including Doximity, MedTwitter/X, Bluesky, and LinkedIn
