About the role

About Simple

Simple AI is building state of the art voice AI agents for enterprise. Our realistic agents help iconic businesses like Doordash, xAI, and Omaha Steaks handle all kinds of phone operations, from customer support to order intake to lead qualifications. We’re growing revenue like crazy and looking for our first Sales Engineer to help prospects understand our platform, run technical evaluations, and accelerate our sales motion.

Simple AI raised $14M from world-class investors and operators like Y Combinator, First Harmonic, Massive Tech Ventures, Michael Seibel, Jared Friedman, Alexandr Wang, Matt Van Horn, Suhail Doshi, and Scott Wu.

The Team

The founders (Catheryn and Zach) met while running software teams at YC, where they shipped tons of new products for YC founders, including YC’s co-founder matching site. Cat previously worked at Instagram and Facebook and earned degrees in math and computer science at MIT. Zach previously studied computer science and statistics at U Chicago and led software at PEAK6. We have grown into a strong team of 20+ and are continuing to scale quickly.

About the Role

As our first Sales Engineer , you'll partner closely with Account Executives to run technical demos, build proof-of-concepts, and answer the hard questions that come up during enterprise sales cycles. You'll be the bridge between our product and our prospects — translating complex voice AI capabilities into clear, compelling solutions tailored to each customer's needs.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with AEs on deals, owning the technical side of the sales process.

  • Creating custom demos that showcase Simple's capabilities for specific use cases.

  • Build and deliver proof-of-concepts and technical evaluations for prospective customers.

  • Handle technical objections and deep-dive into questions around integrations, security, compliance, and architecture.

  • Serve as the voice of the customer internally, feeding product insights and feature requests back to engineering.

  • Develop technical sales collateral, solution briefs, and reference architectures.

  • Support RFP/RFI responses with accurate technical information.

What You'll Need

  • 2–5 years of experience in a Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or pre-sales role at a B2B SaaS company.

  • Strong technical foundation — comfortable discussing APIs, integrations, telephony systems, and cloud infrastructure.

  • Excellent demo and presentation skills; you can make complex products feel simple.

  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies and translate them into business value.

  • Strong communication skills and comfort working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with voice/telephony, conversational AI, or contact center technologies.

  • Background in software engineering or a CS degree.

  • Experience at an early-stage startup (Seed → Series B).

  • Familiarity with enterprise sales cycles involving security reviews, procurement, and multi-stakeholder sign-off.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary & meaningful equity

  • Employee-friendly equity terms

  • An office located in SF

  • Health, dental & vision insurance

  • Free lunch & dinner at the office

  • Late night Ubers

  • Regular team events & offsites

If you're excited to be the technical expert behind our sales motion and help enterprise customers see the power of voice AI, we'd love to chat.

Please note: At this time, Simple AI is unable to provide employment visa sponsorship for this role. We appreciate your interest and understanding.
