Founding Engineer

We are looking for a Founding Engineer with 0-4 years of experience to join SimCare (YC S24) as the third member of our engineering team, working directly with the founders in Midtown Manhattan. SimCare's AI patient avatars let nursing, counseling, social work, and teacher-ed students practice real clinical conversations, and we already serve 250+ institutions and close to 100k students. We need an autonomous, full-stack builder who has worked on a founding or small early-stage team and can move fast without a daily task list. You'll start by taking technical account management and customer support work off the founders' plates. From there, you'll automate that work and help build out the product.

What will you be doing?

• Owning technical customer support across all SimCare products, including the AI avatar simulations, LMS, field experience, and compliance tools. About 70% of this is email, 10% is customer calls, and 20% is other work.
• Diagnosing and fixing issues raised by professors, students, and university admins. You'll start with simpler tickets during onboarding and take on more over time.
• Building automations and internal tooling within your first 30-60 days to cut support load and help the team scale.
• Moving into full-stack product work as support becomes more efficient, shipping features to production that students and faculty use every day.
• Acting as a PM when needed, and helping shape the architecture, engineering culture, and AI-agent-driven workflows at a fast-growing YC startup.
