About the role
What we're looking for
We need a full stack engineer with 2-3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience who has built and maintained real products that people use, across both frontend and backend in a JavaScript/TypeScript stack (React, Next.js, Node.js/Express). You should be comfortable on a small, fast team where you push code in your first week and own a system soon after, and you should have a track record of shipping production features quickly at startups or on small teams. Bonus points if you're a former founder or early startup engineer, have built testing frameworks, or have worked with ETL/data pipelines, simple ML models, or 3D CAD and 2D drawing/OCR files.
What you'll do
- Work on Vendra's existing platforms, including the customer marketplace, the supplier portal, and the internal custom ERP. You'll take tickets every day, fix bugs, and ship improvements that customers, suppliers, and the internal ops team use right away.
- Own one of our core production systems within your first few weeks, and keep it reliable and improving as request volume grows.
- Work directly with the CTO (Anish), the founding team, and a three-person engineering team to turn ambiguous customer and supplier requests into working software.
- Build and expand test frameworks across our products to keep our systems healthy. This is a major current initiative, and this hire will get significant ownership of it.
- Lead features from scoping to production across React/Next.js frontends, Node.js/Express and Python backends, Postgres/MongoDB data layers, and AWS infrastructure (commercial and GovCloud).
- Build and improve backend APIs, ETL pipelines, and AI-driven workflows that analyze customer CAD files and drawings, so more of the manufacturing procurement process runs automatically, from RFQ through delivery.
About the team
Vendra is an ITAR-registered, AI-native manufacturing platform. It supplies parts to leading aerospace and defense companies such as Anduril, Relativity Space, Mach Industries, and Castelion. The company has been profitable for the last six months, recently closed a large new funding round, and plans to grow from about 12 people to 20-40 over the next eight months. The engineering team is small, high-ownership, and very hungry. This is not a 9-5 role, and the team often works weekends by choice. Performance-based team bonuses are paid when company targets are hit.
Requirements
- US Citizen or Green Card holder (no visa sponsorship)
- On-site 5 days a week at our new San Francisco office
