CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT (NIGHT SHIFT) As a member of the Texas Construction Projects team, you will work with an elite group of construction professionals to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at the Starlink production facility in Bastrop, TX (greater Austin area). This is a hands-on, in-person role, responsible for the execution of new construction and renovation projects. You will work with construction project managers, engineers, designers, vendors and internal clients to support these goals. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change and own projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX Bastrop campus a world-class manufacturing facility. RESPONSIBILITIES: Own, in coordination with the other members of the Texas Construction Projects Team, the nighttime site management of fast-paced, high-impact construction projects, including the responsibilities below: Implement and enforce a safe working environment on site. This responsibility extends to all personnel on site, including contractors, SpaceX employees and visitors. Maintain high degree of control over contractor and SpaceX personnel undertaking high hazard operations at night. This includes all trades. Develop strategies to minimize health and safety hazards due to environmental factors inclusive of darkness, high summer heat, rain or cold. Maintain cleanliness including good housekeeping in and around the project site Manage site logistics, including nighttime deliveries, offloading, inventory, storage, and staging of SpaceX-purchased materials. This is inclusive of maintaining safe travel paths for vehicles and pedestrians. Enforce construction site logistics to provide safe and efficient movement throughout the project site and laydown yard Coordinate and resolve field conflicts between contractors and/or internal partners Maintain a nightly log for the job site’s operations, reporting to management as necessary Provide quality control inspections for tasks occurring overnight, signoffs and verification of work in place, inclusive of pipe pressure tests, flushing, disinfecting, insulation resistance, continuity testing, rebar inspection, concrete deliveries, auger cast piles etc. It is understood and agreed the majority of QC will occur during the day shift, but a readiness to support and continue full operations throughout the night shift is required. Schedule, oversee and manage third party testing overnight, etc. Provide daily handoff to day shift superintendent at the conclusion of work Provide real-time feedback to project managers and engineers for betterments, conflict resolution or as necessary during the course of construction Implement changes in operations to maximize production and meet construction deadlines Own contractor badging & security through SpaceX security team If necessary (~5% of the time), the superintendent may be asked to help with the hands-on trade work BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalency certificate 5+ years of experience in the construction industry 2+ years of experience leading the coordination of multiple trades on site PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Understanding of multiple disciplines and the field coordination required: Civil; Wet/Dry, Earthwork & Surveying Structural Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Experience in the field managing a multi-disciplinary team of contractors & laborers on a technical project Working knowledge of two or more of the following: Procore Microsoft Project/Primavera Smartsheet Microsoft Excel Experience managing environmental controls and protection Proficient working independently or in a team, desire to take initiative, and ability communicate effectively ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends as necessary to meet business needs. This role is slated to cover the night shift Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support in emergency situations Physical effort including standing, lifting and carrying moderately heavy materials or equipment (25 lbs.)
