Founding Robotics Software Engineer

About the role

Almond is building America’s robot factory.

We are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer to design, test, and implement key software components for our humanoid arms, data collection, AI. This role is ideal for an engineer excited about working across the full product lifecycle from whiteboard sketches and prototypes to manufacturing and production.

You will contribute towards:

  • Building the most capable 7 DoF arm available (human range of motion, high payload/weight ratio, etc.)
  • Teaching the arm to assemble itself

At minimum, you should:

  • Have strong architectural design
  • Be comfortable working across the stack and/or quickly learning relevant skills (frontend / backend / robotic control / AI)
  • Gave strong conviction in the idea that general purpose robots (humanoid-esque + AI) are inevitable and will soon take over the physical world

An ideal candidate has experience in at least one of:

  • Building / using IK solvers
  • Building / modifying / deploying the latest robotic VLA model research (fine-tuning VLMs, building an online RL workflow, etc.)
  • Building really fast streaming / WebRTC
  • Building VR apps

We are taking on a problem that requires extreme ownership and urgency. If you’re looking for a 9-5 this role is not for you.
