As the founding product engineer you’ll work on our core hiring, scheduling, and intake systems alongside Nick and Pranav. These systems are in their infancy, and you will have the opportunity to take ownership of one or multiple of them. This will be full-stack and requires you to architect new backend systems as well as design frontend experiences.
Your work will hit real users on day 1, as we’re already embedded in multiple agencies, including within 2 franchise systems with 600+ locations total.
What You'll Work On
You’ll be shipping in week 1, working on initiatives like the following:
Agentic scheduling: how do we reason over schedules for geographically-dispersed clients with varying personalities and needs, such that we create globally optimal matches based on qualities like personality, availability, and skills?
Hiring intelligence: how do we proactively adjust each agency’s hiring process to optimize for and predict caregiver retention?
Data pipelines to process operations data: processing the data underlying intelligent recruiting, scheduling, and intake insights.
Automations and feature requests from agency owners: this role will include understanding customer needs and quickly addressing them.
What We’re Looking for
Full-stack scrappiness: you can build anything.
Agency: you solve new problems as they appear, shipping fast and iterating without being asked to.
Passion: you care about our customers and the work we do. We’re going to be working on the biggest problem our country will face in the coming years: access to care for older adults.
User obsession: you need to prioritize our users, be comfortable talking to users, and distill their needs from conversations with them.
Design taste: you’ll be crafting brand new product experiences and need to design for ease of use.
“Codebase design” skills: we lean heavily on tools like Claude Code, but we ensure that we understand the plan and steer it so we establish repeatable, understandable patterns for other developers.
Forward deployment: you’re comfortable working 1-on-1 with customers to design custom solutions where necessary. If a business is local, we may even request that you meet up with them in person.
In person, San Francisco, 6–7 (yes, ⁶🤷⁷) days a week. Long hours are the norm, but weekends aren't a prison. If something fun comes up and there’s no emergency at work, go.
However, if you’re optimizing for a 9-5 with work life balance over learning and ownership, then this won’t be a fit.
