Role Description

We’re looking for a Founding Engineer to join our team and own the data infrastructure that powers Revamp’s personalization engine. This is a full-time, in-person role based in San Francisco.

As our first dedicated infrastructure hire, you’ll design, build, and maintain the systems that allow us to ingest, transform, and act on millions of customer events in real time. Your work will drive everything from automated message generation to model training, and you’ll collaborate directly with the founding team to ship high-impact features at speed.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines (ETL, API, event-based) to support millions of events monthly
• Architect and optimize backend systems using Python, Postgres, and Temporal
• Lead infrastructure projects end-to-end, from planning through deployment
• Work closely with the product team to develop data-powered features
• Improve observability, scalability, and performance across our systems
• Help define engineering best practices and shape Revamp’s technical roadmap

You May Be a Good Fit If You

• 4+ years of backend or data engineering experience (ideally at a high-growth startup or data/AI-focused company)
• Take ownership of problems from start to finish and are eager to learn whatever you need to succeed
• Familiarity with distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Bonus: experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration platforms

Even Better If You

• Have founded a startup or worked as an early engineer
• Have built AI-powered products
• Have deep experience with React, TypeScript, and Python
