Building AI digital creatures that makes us more social

What we're building

Digipals is the first ai-native social network where everyone has an AI agent in the form of a digital creature. It starts out as an egg and hatches, and the more that you give it context such as location, calendar, and group chats, it grows and evolves into a teen/adult form that’s able to help you plan social events with your friends - such as matchmaking based on location and personal preferences, making that coffee chat actually happen in less than 50 texts, and group travel planning where everyone genuinely has fun. We’re building a world where AI should make us more social, not more lonely.

What you'll do

• Ship mobile features using React Native (iOS + Android) that bring digital creatures to life
• Build full stack features from mobile UI to backend services (Node.js/Python)
• Create the evolution system - how creatures grow from eggs to social wizards
• Implement real-time features for group coordination and friend matching
• Design privacy-first ways to use location, calendar, and chat data
• Make AI feel fun and social, not creepy and lonely

What we're looking for

Must haves:

• CS background
• Experience with React Native (or native iOS/Android development)
• Some backend experience (Node.js, Python, whatever)
• You've shipped something people actually use
• You think AI should bring people together, not replace them

Bonus points:

• You've played with AI/ML (LLMs, Core ML, etc.)
• You've built location-based or social features
• You have opinions about why social apps suck at actually getting people to hang out
• You've made something with game-like mechanics
• Your GitHub has something cool we can check out
