CurrentTV, which counts former United States Vice President Al Gore as its Chairman and one of its founders, is a cable news network and online destination that aims to allow its users to dictate and in many cases produce the news programming it puts on air and online. The channel is currently carried in over 51 million households as of January 2008, with distribution via Comcast, Time Warner, DirecTV, Dish Network, Sky, and Virgin Media Cable. In terms of competition, Current competes with both on-air and online news networks like CNN and MSNBC as well as online user-generated content and news sites like YouTube and Digg.
