About the role
We are looking for a Strategic Finance & Business Operations professional with 2-5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or consulting to join as a foundational hire and help build the finance function from the ground up at a rapidly scaling AI company (100 to 250+ employees this year). You'll work directly with the Head of Finance and founders, splitting time between strategic finance and high-impact business operations projects.
What will you be doing?
- Supporting customer meetings, investor relations, pricing strategy, and demo preparation
- Building financial models, dashboards, and reporting for leadership visibility into revenue, burn, and unit economics
- Owning FP&A including annual planning, rolling forecasts, and headcount modeling
- Taking on ambiguous, high-priority biz ops projects (market analysis, vendor evaluation, partnership assessment)
- Building operational infrastructure and processes that don't exist yet as the company scales
Key Requirements
- 2-5 years at a top-tier investment bank (Morgan Stanley, Goldman, etc.), PE firm (Thoma Bravo, etc.), or MBB consulting firm
- Expert-level Excel/Google Sheets financial modeling skills (will be tested via in-person case study without AI)
- Self-starter who thrives without structure — flat org with no managers, must be comfortable finding information and solving problems independently
- Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco (Dogpatch neighborhood office, 3+ days/week in-office)
- High urgency, ownership mentality — comfortable with long hours, rapid change, and doing the "dirty work" at a high-growth startup
