About the role
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) with 1–5 years of experience to join August at an early stage and help build AGI for law. This is not a pure product engineering role — you'll be the technical face of August to our law firm customers, owning relationships, remediating issues, and building custom solutions that keep clients happy and expanding. If you're a builder who also loves being in the room with customers and wants to see your work drive real business outcomes, this is your seat.
What will you be doing?
- Own 4–5 law firm accounts end-to-end — be the technical point of contact for onboarding, weekly check-ins, and issue resolution
- Sit on client calls and translate customer requests into product feedback, feature prioritization, and custom builds
- Remediate P0 issues during pilots — when a half-million dollar deal is on the line, you're the one making it work
- Build lightweight internal tools and custom integrations to solve customer problems fast (TypeScript, Python)
- Bridge the gap between customers and the core product team — surface patterns, advocate for features, and help shape the roadmap
- Deflect and manage inbound support tickets through Pylon, turning around resolutions in 1–2 days
Key Requirements
- Has shipped production-quality code — TypeScript and Python are the core stack
- Experience at a high-growth, reputable company (Series A or later); ideally has seen a company scale from early to later stage
- Strong communicator — comfortable being the technical person in the room on customer calls
- High agency and high reliability — you own problems end-to-end without hand-holding
- CS degree (4-year) required; no bootcamp backgrounds
