About the role
We are looking for Forward Deployed Engineers with 3-8 years of experience to embed directly into Fortune 500 client environments and ship production AI systems that transform how businesses operate. You'll join a bootstrapped, fast-growing team (40 → 200 by year-end) that partners with Anthropic and OpenAI to solve the hardest AI transformation problems for household-name companies.
What will you be doing?
- Own end-to-end builds of AI workflows and agentic systems for enterprise clients — from architecture to production deployment
- Ramp into unfamiliar client codebases (sometimes Fortune 500 monoliths) and ship production code with minimal hand-holding
- Work directly with C-suite stakeholders (CIOs, CEOs) at major companies across finance, entertainment, CPG, and more
- Leverage cutting-edge agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) to ship at speeds that weren't possible a year ago
- Collaborate with AI Strategists to scope bets, then make them real — building systems that run when nobody from Tenex is in the room
Key Requirements
- 3-8 years of production software engineering experience with evidence of personally shipping something substantial and complex
- True full-stack engineer — must have hands-on experience writing and deploying production code (not solutions engineering or data-only roles)
- Experience with major cloud infrastructure providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) in production or serious projects
- High agency and pace — comfortable working startup hours in-person 5 days/week in NYC, not looking for a 40hr/week role
- Strong client-facing communication skills — you'll be presenting to and partnering with enterprise engineering teams and executives
