Marketing Operations Manager

Toronto, ON

About the role

Relay is a digital banking platform that gives self-made business owners the tools and know-how to be great with money—bringing clarity, confidence, and control to every dollar earned, so they can turn hard work into lasting success. We do this by replacing financial guesswork with real visibility, transforming cash flow from a constant source of stress into a clear signal owners can use to run stronger, more resilient businesses.

We’re looking for a Marketing Operations Manager to join our team supporting the Marketing and Sales teams to scale our top of funnel operations through constant measurement, marketing performance evaluation, and automation to obtain new SMB clients and partners

You will own the implementation and optimization of our marketing technology, with HubSpot at the core, so that it gives the organization visibility that drives business insights and planning. You will also enable and optimize Top of Funnel growth across our Direct and Accountant & Bookkeeper channels. This is a unique opportunity to join our growing, data-driven team, drive impact and inform how we scale Relay.

What You'll Be Doing

Strategy & Planning
Set the direction for marketing operations and Top of Funnel.

  • Scope and manage marketing operations initiatives aligned to team and business goals.

  • Enable and optimize Top of Funnel growth across our Direct SMB and Accountant & Bookkeeper channels, with clear success criteria defined up front.

  • Prioritize by customer impact, efficiency, and business value, and explain the tradeoffs to internal stakeholders.

  • Flag risk early and reshape or stop initiatives that are not performing or producing growth.

Execution & Delivery
Build and run the systems and automation behind the funnel.

  • Administer and optimize HubSpot (workflows, lead lifecycle, scoring, reporting) and manage the rest of our marketing tech stack.

  • Build and run AI agents and automations in production that support the Top of Funnel, such as lead routing, enrichment, and follow-up.

  • Own system enhancements and process rollouts end to end, remove blockers, and support the work through adoption.

Systems Thinking & Data Insights
Turn our data into visibility and decisions.

  • Build marketing attribution models that capture the buyer’s multi-touch journey.

  • Define core KPIs and build dashboards and reports that marketing, sales, and leadership trust.

  • Create the infrastructure and utilize campaigns to track events success

  • Diagnose friction between marketing and sales and fix root causes, not symptoms.

  • Analyze trends and turn them into clear, specific recommendations.

Collaboration & Communication
Bring people along and make the work stick.

  • Build trusted partnerships with marketing, sales, and leadership.

  • Present recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Create alignment when things are ambiguous or moving fast.

  • Document processes so they’re easy to reuse and cross-train.

Who You Are

  • You have 4+ years of experience in an operations role in a data-driven environment, on a fast-growing team or in a technical environment

  • Have hands-on HubSpot experience as marketing automation tool (required), including workflows, reporting, and CRM/marketing hub administration

  • Proficient with CRM platforms and integrations (Salesforce, Iterable), sales productivity tools (Outreach, Gong) and enrichment providers (Clay, ZoomInfo)

  • Experience and familiarity with AI tools, and a track record of building agents and automations that solve real operational problems.

  • Comfortable being in the weeds, with enthusiasm for detail, plus the ability to rise up and see the broader picture

  • A love of process. You are adept with complex data inputs, you find common themes and clear outcomes, and you translate business objectives into actionable quarterly strategies.

  • You are a strong communicator who thrives in cross-functional environments and can translate complexity into clarity

Bonus Points

  • Experience building RevOps infrastructure from the ground up or scaling operations in a high-growth environment.

  • Experience supporting a PLG and sales-assisted hybrid GTM motion.

  • Background in fintech or SMB-focused SaaS environments.

  • You have worked with SMBs in North America

Our Compensation Approach

We believe Relayers should feel rewarded for the impact they have on our mission and growth. Compensation follows impact. As impact increases, compensation grows, and we do not limit compensation changes to a once-a-year review cycle.

The annual salary range for this role is $112,500 CAD to $137,500 CAD.

For candidates who demonstrate full readiness for the defined scope of the role, the typical starting salary is $125,000 CAD. Offers below this point reflect candidates we believe can grow into the full scope of the role with support and development. Offers above this point reflect impact that meaningfully exceeds the role’s defined expectations or an expanded scope from day one.

We encourage you to have a conversation with your recruiter and ask questions about compensation throughout the hiring process. For more information on our compensation philosophy and perks and benefits, visit our Candidate Hub.

Why Relay Might Be the Perfect Fit For You

  • You push relentlessly for reinvention: You're always asking "how can this be better?" -- in your work, in your craft, in yourself. Comfort is a signal to push harder, not coast. You'd rather build something better than defend something familiar.

  • You crave autonomy: We trust our team with big challenges and the freedom to solve them. If you’re someone who takes initiative, is comfortable taking risks, and seeks input when needed, you’ll find the freedom here empowering.

  • You own your work: You take pride in your work, follow through on commitments, and feel a deep sense of responsibility for outcomes, not just tasks.

  • You build with AI, not just use it: You're actively embedding AI into how you work, pushing what's possible, and bringing your team along with you.

  • You care about impact, not noise: You care deeply about the substance of your work. You measure success by results, not recognition, and you let your work speak for itself.

  • You’re energized by complexity and ambiguity: You enjoy tackling problems that don’t come with a playbook. You’re comfortable building from scratch, iterating as you go, and collaborating to shape the best path forward.

  • You seek out feedback: You see directness as respect, not criticism. You actively seek input, sit with hard truths, and use feedback as fuel for improvement.

  • Small businesses are why we're here: Relay exists to help them thrive -- and that mission has to resonate with you.
