About the role
We are looking for a Quantitative Researcher to join the Customer Value Fund (CVF) team at General Catalyst. CVF is building an entirely new asset class—financing growth-stage companies' sales and marketing spend without diluting their equity. You'll be part of a small, fast-paced technical team (6 people) that sits at the intersection of quantitative modeling, software engineering, and venture investing. This is a rare role that combines hard quant skills with commercial instinct, negotiation, and the autonomy to shape the fund's future. What will you be doing?
- Underwriting new companies: analyzing customer cohort data, modeling unit economics, quantifying risk, and determining whether to invest
- Managing the existing portfolio: monitoring company performance, negotiating with founders and CFOs, and flagging risks early
- Building software and tooling to automate and improve the underwriting and portfolio management process
- Communicating complex quantitative findings to non-technical stakeholders, including company leadership teams and internal partners
- Driving open-ended, high-impact projects of your own design—20% of the role is dedicated to self-directed work that pushes the fund forward in ways no one else has thought of
