About the role
We are looking for a Staff/Principal-level Product Design Lead, Design Systems with 8+ years of experience to make Rippling's 40+ products feel like one seamless platform. You're an AI-native systems thinker with excellent visual and mobile craft, and you're comfortable setting vision and also building the work yourself. Rippling's whole value prop is one platform instead of a dozen tools, and Design Systems is the horizontal team that makes that real. You'll get a broad mandate and about 18 dedicated engineers, which is one of the strongest engineering investments in systems work in the industry.
What will you be doing?
- Designing repeatable, scalable UX patterns and flows that go beyond component and token libraries and work across all of Rippling's product verticals, including the growing mobile design system
- Building AI-driven systems that define and measure "good design," so product designers' work is automatically checked against Rippling's quality bar
- Creating AI prototyping tools, plus tools that use code to check whether implementations meet design standards
- Owning broad, platform-wide initiatives from start to finish, from setting strategy to hands-on prototyping in code with Codex, Cursor and Claude Code
- Working with engineers, PMs and product designers to raise the bar on craft and shape the future of Rippling's design language

Salary bands based on location and experience:
174,000 - 280,000 USD per year (US Tier 1)
156,600 - 261,000 USD per year (US Tier 2)
147,900 - 246,500 USD per year (US Tier 3)
