Wyvern is developing telescopes to capture better hyperspectral imagery from space. Hyperspectral images contain more colours than other types of imagery, meaning these images capture the spectral signature of your crop or forest, for example.
With hyperspectral imagery, however, it’s hard to get quality images with a high signal-to-noise ratio and resolution. To mitigate this, and as part of our long-term vision, we’re designing telescopes that are compact on launch and deploy in space, meaning we pack better performance in a smaller, cheaper-to-launch package. In the meantime we have a constellation of satellites – nicknamed Dragonette – that are delivering the highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral images on the market to our customers.
We’re looking for a DevOps specialist to work with the Software team. You'll be building and maintaining the infrastructure that processes and analyzes those images, and gets them to our customers in a timely manner. This is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to start their career in the space industry and offers room to grow as Wyvern expands its constellation and its data offerings.
You must be a citizen or resident of, or currently legally authorized to work in, Canada.
You have demonstrated the ability to cooperate with others in a team environment.
You can explain the pros and cons of a technical solution to everyone from fellow developers to the CEO
You are able to independently solve problems and are an analytical thinker. You have discovered a problem, tracked the bug, solved it, documented the fix, and found a way to prevent it in the future
You automate what you can, document what you can't, and make sure your tools are usable by others
You are a continuous learner with a strong personal initiative, and are always looking for ways to do things better
You delight in using code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible, etc) to create and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc)
You can set up a web server in Linux, get an SSL certificate from LetsEncrypt, troubleshoot network connectivity, and monitor its performance – all without leaving the terminal
You have deployed software with Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes, and have the scars to prove it
You can jump in to help a software project – with better tooling, new test suites, a bug fix or a new feature
You have set up monitoring for critical services, so you know about problems before users do
You bake security in from the start, applying principles like least privilege and defense in depth, so our deployments are hardened by design
