This is a hard role to put in a box, which is intentional. The Strategic Initiatives Lead will report to the Chief of Staff and work on the problems that matter most to the business right now — not a fixed function. The first projects will likely sit in Growth and then move to GTM broadly speaking, but where you go next depends on what the company needs and what you're good at/eager to learn.
People who've done this well tend to come from places where the feedback loop was short and the expectations were high — early-stage startups, ex-consultants, strategy roles that bled into execution, or careers where they had to build without a playbook.
We're hiring for a specific way of thinking more than a specific background. This role requires someone with high agency and an extreme sense of ownership. If you build, test, and think from first principles, we want to talk.
What will you be doing?

Why take it
AI is changing how buyers find software faster than most demand teams are adapting. The FP&A category is growing and Abacum is at the forefront.
Most roles put you in a lane. This one doesn't. You'll have visibility into how a Series B company makes decisions, direct access to the Chief of Staff and senior leadership, and a portfolio of projects that actually ships. If you want to figure out what kind of operator you are, this is the place to do it.
Abacum is the leading AI-native FP&A platform that empowers finance teams to drive business performance. Founded in 2020 by two former CFOs, the company automates management reporting, forecasting, revenue planning, headcount planning, OPEX budgeting, and scenario modeling — helping finance teams shift from number crunching to driving strategic decisions.
As the most scalable FP&A solution for mid-market companies, Abacum perfectly balances flexibility with ease of use through its powerful, intuitive multi-dimensional modeling engine and collaborative workflows that make business partnering seamless.
Abacum is a global company by nature — headquartered in New York with offices in Barcelona (where it was founded) and Toronto. The team spans 100+ people across 30+ nationalities, serving fast-growing companies and industry leaders including Dish Networks, Strava, BetterUp, JG Wentworth, Abridge, and hundreds more.
The company closed a $60M Series B in June 2025, led by Scale Venture Partners with participation from Cathay Innovation, Y Combinator, Atomico, Creandum, and angel operators from Adyen, Zapier, and Twitch — bringing total funding to over $100M.
