About the role
We are looking for a Senior Lawyer with 4+ years of experience in estate planning and/or estate administration to join Safewill — Australia's leading end-of-life platform. You'll be joining a fast-growing legal tech company (Series B), working on complex estates and probate matters in a modern, merit-based environment with no billable hours.
What will you be doing?
- Leading complex estate planning consultations and probate applications across all Australian jurisdictions, with an initial focus on estate administration
- Running client-facing sales calls for testamentary trust wills and complex estate matters — empathetically guiding families through sensitive estate decisions while identifying the right legal strategy
- Reviewing and overseeing work produced by junior lawyers, paralegals, and virtual legal assistants to ensure quality and compliance
- Collaborating directly with product and engineering teams to improve legal tooling and workflows
- Contributing to team revenue targets by converting complex matters and recommending appropriate estate planning strategies
Key Requirements
- 4+ years PQE in estate planning and/or estate administration, with experience handling complex estates
- Strong commercial acumen — ability to empathetically sell complex estate planning solutions (testamentary trust wills) to a broad demographic
- Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness — high volume means nothing can slip through the cracks
- Ability to work at pace with technology-driven systems; comfortable closing matters efficiently in a fast-moving environment
- Genuine enthusiasm for working in a startup law firm environment and openness to a non-traditional, merit-based career progression model
