About the role
Spectral Labs is building foundation models for engineering physical systems. We're looking for an AI engineer to build the systems that put those models to work: agents that read, edit, and generate CAD, the tool interfaces that connect LLMs to our geometry models, and the task-level evals that decide what's ready to ship. You bring 3–5 years building software with LLMs or other ML models, hands-on experience with agents and multi-step LLM systems, and strong Python. Experience scripting CAD tools through their APIs is a big plus. We're excited about people who can make an impact, whatever their background.
This is a fully in-person role at our office in SF. Compensation and equity total $250–350k annually. We sponsor visas end-to-end, and benefits include health insurance (with a 100%-premium option), dental, a 401(k) match, and company-expensed meals and commuting.

Existing foundation models lack inherent spatial understanding and thus cannot meaningfully perform critical roles in engineering design and manufacturing. We train large models which lack these restrictions and can engineer physical systems. We believe our approach represents a significant step towards AI systems that can intelligently design and reason about physical systems.
