Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

The Role

This is a role for a builder who gets obsessed with solving real customer problems and wants to apply that energy to one of the least automated industries in the economy. Many engineers never get access to a meaningful problem space or real users. This role gives you both.

You will work directly with customers, sitting alongside operators and understanding how they actually do their jobs. You will learn their workflows deeply, including what is broken, what is tedious, and what matters most to them. From that understanding, you will build software that changes how they work.

This is the core of the forward deployed model, deep empathy for the user combined with the ability to build.

You are not a consultant delivering last-mile work. What you learn in the field becomes part of the Casca platform. You help decide what is worth building, working across customer, product, and engineering. You do not just collect requirements. You help shape the product itself.

We're Hiring Across Levels

We are growing the forward deployed team and hiring across levels. The responsibilities are consistent, but scope and autonomy differ.

  • Forward Deployed Engineer: roughly 0–3 years of experience, or strong early-career builders who have demonstrated the ability to ship real software and want to learn quickly in a customer-facing environment.
  • Senior Forward Deployed Engineer / Tech Lead: roughly 3–5+ years of experience, with ownership of architecture, ability to handle ambiguity, and responsibility for the most complex parts of a deployment while raising the bar for others.

What You'll Do

Projected division of responsibilities: roughly 70% building and shipping, 30% embedded with customers and collaborating with your team.

Live in the Customer’s World

  • Embed directly with bank teams on-site, working alongside underwriters, lenders, and operators
  • Develop a deep understanding of their day-to-day workflows, bottlenecks, and pain points
  • Become the person who understands these processes better than anyone because you have seen them firsthand

Build Something Magical

  • Turn your understanding into working software that automates and improves workflows
  • Build on top of Casca’s platform to extend it into new use cases
  • Deploy AI-powered systems that replace manual processes
  • Iterate quickly based on real user feedback in production
  • Help migrate customers from legacy systems to modern, scalable solutions

Own the Lifecycle, and Shape the Platform

  • Take ownership end-to-end, from problem definition to deployment and iteration
  • Scope problems effectively and focus on delivering real value quickly
  • Feed what you learn in the field back into the platform, improving future deployments
  • Contribute to product direction based on real-world experience

Our tech stack: TypeScript, React, Next.js are must-haves. Postgres with Prisma, Python, and AWS are part of our stack and expected to be learned or picked up quickly.
