At Coram AI, we’re reimagining video security for the modern world. Our cloud-native platform uses computer vision and AI to help businesses stay safe, make smarter decisions, and move faster; from real-time alerts to seamless clip sharing and multi-site visibility. You’ll be joining a small, fast-moving team that values clarity, craftsmanship, and impact. Every person here has a voice, ships meaningful work, and helps shape how AI can make the world safer and more connected. We are looking for a technically strong Engineering Manager to lead our Platform team. This team builds the core real-time infrastructure that powers distributed edge systems running under strict latency, memory, and reliability constraints. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will manage deeply technical engineers working on low-level systems, high-performance networking, concurrency, and edge compute. You do not need to be a robotics expert. You do need strong experience with real-time or low-latency systems and the ability to go deep when required. What You’ll Do • Define the technical roadmap for the Platform team in partnership with product and leadership • Lead architecture design for distributed edge systems operating under tight latency and memory constraints • Manage and prioritize multiple parallel projects while handling production issues and shifting customer needs • Conduct detailed design and code reviews to ensure high system reliability and performance • Dive into C++ or low-level system code when necessary to unblock critical issues • Oversee development of IPC, messaging, and real-time data pipelines • Build strong engineering processes around observability, testing, and production stability • Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performance team of systems engineers • Foster a culture of ownership, technical rigor, and execution discipline What We’re Looking For • Several years of experience managing engineers working on complex systems • Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and networking • Background as a strong individual contributor earlier in your career • Deep experience building or leading real-time or low-latency distributed systems • Comfortable reading and writing production C++ code; ability to go low-level when required • Experience working close to firmware or embedded systems is highly valued • Rust experience is a strong plus • Strong architectural judgment and the ability to review complex system designs • Proven ability to balance delivery speed with long-term system quality
Bonus Points • Experience with real-time Linux or kernel-level tuning • Experience designing pub/sub or distributed messaging systems • Experience building systems for constrained edge hardware • Experience working on GPU-enabled edge platforms We're on a mission to transform a $50B+ legacy industry by bringing the power of cutting-edge multimodal LLMs and computer vision to real-world security and operations. From firearm detection to intelligent access control, our AI-native platform turns every camera and sensor into a smart system that enhances safety, efficiency, and awareness. Founded by Ashesh Jain (ex-Lyft Level 5, PhD Cornell) and Peter Ondruska (ex-Lyft, PhD Oxford), Coram AI is backed by Battery Ventures, Mosaic, and 8VC, have raised over $30M, and were named to the CB Insights AI 100 as one of the most promising AI companies in the world. If you're excited to work on mission-critical AI that makes an impact in the real world, we’d love to meet you.
