At Alleviate Health we’re building AI Agents that drastically accelerate clinical trials by autonomously communicating with patients to recruit them into trials and support them over years, pruning billions in excess spend. We’re solving the problem that keeps execs at the largest $100B+ Pharma companies up at night.
We bootstrapped to winning some of the largest enterprise accounts in the market and are seeing massive market pull. We’ve now raised a $4.3M seed round led by a16z and are hiring a world-class team to solve the largest problem in drug development and win one of the largest opportunities in AI – while slashing the time it takes to bring life-changing medicines to the patients who desperately need them.
We are looking for a Founding AI Agent Engineer with 0-4 years of experience to build the patient-facing AI agent behind Alleviate Health's next phase: a two-sided marketplace for clinical trials recruitment. We want a builder who has shipped conversational agents to real consumers at scale, not just pet projects or internal tools, and who understands the full loop of production traces, evals, and the agent harness. This is the most important hire for the company's move from phase one to phase two. You will own an agent that talks to tens of millions of patients every week as a trusted health companion, and it has to be both commercially scalable and safe in a highly regulated industry.

What you might work on:
- Orchestrating a fleet of AI agents that coordinate patient recruitment across hundreds of clinical trials across North America (For now).
- Owning the full loop of production traces, evals, and the agent harness: finding problem scenarios in real conversations, turning them into evals, and using those evals to improve the core harness.
- Integrating health profile data sources so the agent can reach out at the right moments and quickly line up 500+ qualified patients whenever a new trial opens.
- Scaling language models across Voice, SMS, and email while keeping conversations consistent and personalized across all channels.
- Keeping up with state-of-the-art agent tooling and research, and continuously building it into what will become the core of Alleviate's software ecosystem.

Clinical trials recruitment is the largest bottleneck in drug development and site revenue growth.
To bring a life-saving medicine from the lab bench to patients, pharma companies spend tens of billions a year for research sites to qualify & screen hundreds of thousands of patients and then to stay in contact with those patients over years. Approximately 80% of clinical trials are delayed due to problems with recruitment and between $600,000 and $8 million is lost for each day a trial is delayed. Our agents have been battle-tested across 500k+ patient interactions, 190+ sites, and 300+ unique trials. They yield the highest conversion rates of any solution on the market because they’ve been optimized across every possible patient population, indication, and workflow in the recruitment process.
