Role Overview Exploration Geology Intern — Summer 2026 Start Day: May 18 - June 1 Duration: 12-16 weeks Hours per week: 30-40 Rate of pay: $17/hr Location: Salt Lake City · In-Person Travel up to 7 consecutive days Mission – Why we exist and why we need you Geothermal energy is the most abundant renewable energy source in the world. However, historically, it’s been hard to find and expensive to develop. At Zanskar, we’re using better technology to find and develop new geothermal resources in order to make geothermal a cost-effective and vital contributor to a carbon-free energy future. We are revolutionizing the exploration process, setting new industry standards for discovery rates and finding new prospects at an unprecedented scale. The Exploration team is hiring a Summer Intern to support prospect generation and evaluation by building and maintaining the datasets that underpin our exploration workflow. This role will contribute directly to active projects while working alongside a fast-moving, multidisciplinary team. \n SKILLS YOU WILL BUILD Geothermal concepts & Geologic exploration methods SQL, database management & pipelines GIS proficiency & spatial data analysis Data quality control & validation Web scraping & structured data extraction Technical & scientific writing WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Pursuing / completed B.S. or M.S. in Geology or related field Interest or prior exposure to geothermal & exploration Self-driven, organized, comfortable with independent work Eagerness to engage in both field and office environments INTERN DELIVERABLES — PROJECTS & OUTPUTS Each deliverable represents a distinct, concrete contribution to Zanskar’s exploration database and workflows. Data Ingestion for Key Prospect Areas Geologic literature review, legacy report compilation, map digitization, well data extraction & aggregation, database QA/AC. Catalog, summarize, and tag field reports into a structured reference library with key metadata. Prospect Screening Support GIS Project Maintenance. Assist with spatial data analysis to evaluate new target areas. Contribute to map products and data-backed observations that feed directly into active scoring. Stakeholder Presentation Deliver a polished end-of-internship presentation covering projects completed and key learnings. MENTORSHIP STRUCTURE Structured mentorship from two teams ensures technical growth and integration into Zanskar’s exploration culture. MENTOR / TEAM ROLE MENTORSHIP ACTIVITIES Early-Stage Exploration Team (Primary) Technical Lead Weekly 1-on-1 check-ins guided introduction to geothermal exploration workflows target screening; co authorship credit on internal memos and exploration summaries Based on candidate interest, responsibilities may include travel for: collection of external data field site assessments mapping water sampling Prospect Generation (Secondary) Data & Targeting Weekly collaboration on digitization review and map products hands-on training in database structure data pipelines data scraping exposure to prospect scoring and ranking paired QGIS spatial analysis sessions for new leads. Cross-Team (Ad Hoc) Professional Dev.
