About
the Role Abacum is hiring our first ever Finance Expert in Residence. We 3x'd our revenue in 2025, raised a $60 million Series B, and now we're investing in the voices that will define what modern finance leadership looks like. And this is where you come in. As our Expert in Residence, you will be at the forefront, representing Abacum. You've spent years in FP&A, in the CFO or VP Finance seat, and you've built a reputation along the way. You know what CFOs actually worry about, and you cannot wait to say it out loud. You love learning from peers, connecting people and owning the stage. You’ve been obsessed about how AI is changing the Office of the CFO from Day 1. This role is about bringing the finance community closer to what we're building at Abacum.
What You'll Own Community presence: Show up where finance leaders gather: conferences, panels, dinners, online forums. You'll be Abacum's most visible voice in the finance world, in person and online. This isn't a content calendar or a social media schedule, it's genuine participation in conversations that matter to your peers. Narrative promotion: Build and evolve a real perspective on where finance is heading with AI, the changing CFO role, and the future of FP&A. Work with the marketing team to weave that narrative into Abacum's brand. Network development: Bring the right finance leaders, operators, and practitioners closer to Abacum so we’re top of mind for them when the time is right. You're not cold outreaching, you're deepening relationships you already have and building new ones through trust and credibility. Marketing partnership: Collaborate closely with the marketing team to turn your perspectives and relationships into scalable programs, content, and community initiatives. You have the credibility; we'll help you scale it.
What We're Looking For A finance practitioner first and foremost. Whether you've spent years in FP&A, held a CFO role, or worked as an operating partner at a VC/PE firm, you can talk to a CFO as a peer and go deep when it matters. If you prefer staying behind the scenes, this isn't the right fit. A nascent public presence. People gravitate toward you. You've naturally built a following online, in person, or both. Not because you've been chasing followers, but because you have something worth following. You're an active participant in the finance community and aren't afraid to share a strong opinion. A natural at public speaking . Whether it's a 500-person conference or an intimate executive dinner, you're energized by those moments and excited to share Abacum’s mission. Whether it’s a 45 min keynote presentation, fireside chat, or 1:1 conversation, you know how to command the room and go deep. An AI-native operator and advocate . You don't talk about AI from the sidelines, you've integrated it into how you work, developed real convictions from that experience, and can hold a substantive conversation about what it means for the future of finance. You translate that into content that people actually want to read, watch, or hear.
