Job Family: Scientist Travel Required: None Clearance Required: Ability to Obtain Public Trust What You Will Do: We are looking for an Electron Microscope Scientist to support the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) at NIAID by overseeing cryo-electron microscopy operations and supporting structural biology research. This is a full-time position located in Bethesda, MD. Provide scientific, technical, and operational oversight of the cryo-EM facility. Support structural biology research through high-quality cryo-EM data acquisition and analysis. Manage facility operations, including instrument performance, user access, and workflow optimization. Oversee operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cryo-EM instrumentation. Perform cryo-EM sample preparation, data collection, and computational analysis. Train and support users, including students, postdocs, and senior scientists. Collaborate with NIH investigators and provide guidance on experimental design. Develop and implement standardized workflows, SOPs, and best practices. Monitor project timelines, instrument usage, and overall facility performance. What You Will Need: Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field. A minimum of THREE (3) years of experience in cryo-electron microscopy, structural biology, or related research. Demonstrated expertise in cryo-EM workflows, instrumentation, and facility operations. Experience with cryo-EM data collection, processing, and analysis. Ability to maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot advanced microscopy instrumentation. Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills. Ability to support and train a diverse scientific user base. Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and scientific data tools. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. The annual salary range for this position is $74,000.00-$124,000.00.
