We are looking for a strong founding engineer to join Bayesline as an early, high-leverage member of the team.
This is a generalist role for someone who is strongest in building product and systems end-to-end, and who is comfortable moving across a Python-first, API-driven analytics platform. A meaningful part of the role will involve shaping a sophisticated user-facing product, so strong product and UI judgment matters, but this is not a front-end-only role.
This is not a greenfield build. You will be joining an existing codebase with substantial functionality and real product complexity already in place. The opportunity is to improve, extend, and unify a fast-moving platform used for portfolio risk, performance attribution, scenario analysis, custom factors, dashboards, and chart-driven workflows.
You will work directly with the founders and alongside our founding engineer on a small, high-agency team. This role is best suited to someone who is comfortable working independently, making sound technical and product decisions, and taking broad ownership without relying on a large, specialized organization around them.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building real products end-to-end, including front-end
• Comfort operating as a generalist across product, backend, APIs, and user-facing systems
• Experience shipping complex, data-heavy applications rather than simple CRUD apps
• Strong product instincts and sound judgment around front-end architecture
• Comfort working in a Python-first, API-driven environment with React and Typescript front-end and actively building across both the back and front-end as part of the role
• Comfort using AI in day-to-day development, with the judgment to evaluate and improve AI-generated code and ideas
• Excitement for early-stage environments with high ownership, ambiguity, and close collaboration with technical founders
• Experience building analytics, fintech, data platform, BI, developer-tool, or AI / ML-heavy products
• Familiarity with institutional investing, portfolio analytics, risk, or quantitative workflows
• Experience working on data-intensive, numerical, or compute-heavy systems
• Experience working in small teams where you are expected to own a surface area independently
• React + TypeScript on the front end
• A Python-first backend environment built around FastAPI / Pydantic
• GPU-accelerated analytics infrastructure built with JAX / Flax
• Modern platform and data infrastructure, including PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kubernetes
• API contracts auto-generated from the Python backend into TypeScript
• You become a high-trust engineering owner across important parts of the Bayesline platform
• The product becomes more scalable, maintainable, and polished as the platform grows
• Users can move quickly through complex workflows with confidence
• AI-assisted and automated workflows improve both speed and rigor
• You raise the bar on engineering quality and product judgment across the team
• Help build the modern alternative to legacy incumbents like Barra and Aladdin
• Work directly with founders who have built institutional analytics systems from the inside at BlackRock and Bloomberg
• Join early, with real ownership over both the product and the platform rather than a narrow slice of a larger organization
• Tackle hard problems in performance, AI, data-heavy product design, and analytical usability
• Build software for sophisticated institutional users where product quality and correctness both matter deeply
• Have a meaningful hand in shaping what Bayesline can become beyond its initial risk-model wedge
Bayesline is building a GPU-powered financial analytics suite for institutional investors, like hedge funds.
Clients use our cloud deployed solution to build custom analytics in seconds, having previously been frustrated with off the shelf solutions that don't generate any alpha. What used to take weeks or months now happens near instantly.
