About the role

We are looking for an Forward Deployed AI Engineer with 1–5 years of experience to embed directly with retail insurance agencies, own customer-side AI deployments end-to-end, and feed critical product signal back to the core team. This is a rare early hire on a fast-scaling applied AI function, reporting directly to the CEO — an ex-Palantir applied AI veteran — at an AI-native startup rebuilding the $100B+ specialty insurance market from the ground up.

What will you be doing?

Embed at retail insurance agencies (~25% travel) to identify broken workflows and deploy governed AI execution using QuoteWell's Terminal platform
Build and ship production AI integrations across AMS systems, carrier portals, email, and agency workflows — independently, end-to-end
Design review, attribution, and override patterns that make AI trustworthy and auditable in a regulated environment
Act as the conduit between customers and the core Engineering, Product, and Design teams — translating field reality into platform improvements that compound across all customers
Represent QuoteWell in customer conference rooms: scope problems, troubleshoot live, and reason through solutions out loud

Key Requirements

Strong full-stack or back-end engineering foundation — must be able to independently build, debug, and launch production software (TypeScript primary; Python a plus)
Genuine AI-first mindset — you trust and direct AI agents to get work done fast; skeptics who over-manually-verify need not apply
Hustler mentality — the kind of engineer who shows up Monday with a working prototype of something they spotted on Friday; side projects and startup experience are strong signals
Comfortable in front of customers — can troubleshoot, scope, and explain technical trade-offs in a client's conference room without hand-holding
Based in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX; willing to travel ~25% of the time to customer sites across the US
