Job Family: Scientist Travel Required: None Clearance Required: Ability to Obtain Public Trust What You Will Do: We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to provide independent laboratory support for the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, Department of Transfusion Medicine, Infectious Diseases Section. This full-time, on-site role is based in Bethesda, MD and follows a fixed Monday–Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with rotational on-call
responsibilities.
Responsibilities (What you will do) Provide technical laboratory support for infectious disease testing and clinical diagnostics. Perform molecular (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR) and serology testing using automated systems (e.g., COBAS, Ortho 3600). Accession, process, and test specimens, ensuring accuracy and compliance with laboratory standards. Analyze, interpret, and report laboratory data using laboratory information systems and statistical tools. Maintain quality control, document calibration/maintenance, and ensure compliance with QA/QC and accreditation
requirements. Troubleshoot test, specimen, or equipment issues and communicate with laboratory and medical staff as needed. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; monitor and manage inventory of reagents and supplies. Organize daily workload and maintain laboratory records, samples, and equipment. Follow all laboratory safety policies and procedures. What You Will Need: Bachelor’s degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical technology. A minimum of THREE (3) years of experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory environment. Accredited clinical laboratory training program in laboratory science. Strong experience performing molecular and serology-based testing. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Must be able to meet physical
requirements, including standing/walking for extended periods and handling laboratory materials. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Nice To Have: BS MT (CLS) certification or equivalent. Experience working in federally funded research or clinical laboratory environments (e.g., NIH). Familiarity with laboratory accreditation processes and inspections. Experience with laboratory equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and validation processes. The annual salary range for this position is $74,000.00-$124,000.00.
