Cosmon is hiring the founding product designer for Nexus to define the UX of an agentic platform that helps mechanical engineers delegate CAD, CAE, and PLM workflows. You’ll own end-to-end product design across the agent, desktop app shell, and IT/admin surfaces to build trust, observability, and recovery patterns that enable enterprise adoption. What you'll do • Own UX end-to-end for Nexus, setting the design bar across agent, desktop, and admin surfaces. • Define agent interaction patterns including plan review, step-level approvals, scope boundaries, and agent-to-human handoffs. • Design observability and verification surfaces (diffs, plans, reasoning traces, audit history) so engineers can trust and validate agent actions. • Map user stories across engineering workflows (DFM review, drawing generation, mold-flow setup, PLM check-in) and design for their stakeholders and failure modes. • Own the Nexus desktop app shell, including information architecture, navigation, and panel/command surfaces. • Design integration experiences for CAD/CAE/PLM tools that respect established mental models without inheriting legacy UI debt. • Design IT-facing experiences like installers, activation, admin consoles, deployment status, and enterprise error surfaces. • Run and partner on research with PM and engineering, including customer calls and usability sessions with F100 users. • Build a design system from scratch (tokens, components, motion, density, accessibility) and define what “shipped” means visually and interactively. What Cosmon is looking for • 7+ years designing digital products with at least 2 years owning a major surface end-to-end and shipping products to real users. • Deep CAD experience (practitioner or designer for CAD users) with fluency in tools and workflows used by mechanical engineers. • Experience designing AI-powered products or interactions on top of LLMs/generative/ML systems. • Strong systems thinking: design for state, edge cases, error paths, and recovery across multi-step flows. • High interaction and visual craft with the ability to defend pixel-level decisions and system-level architecture. • Comfortable collaborating with engineers, reading code, and participating in technical discussions. • Bias toward shipping and iterating quickly rather than perfecting abstractions. • Direct experience with agentic interaction patterns (plan/approve, observability, rollback) is a meaningful accelerant. • CAE, PLM, or PDM familiarity (Ansys, Abaqus, Simulia, COMSOL, Windchill, Teamcenter, Enovia, Aras) is a plus. • Experience designing desktop/native applications and IT/admin surfaces, and building a design system from zero.
Cosmon shapes the future of computer-aided engineering by building AI that thinks like an engineer. It offers a rare opportunity to join early and make a foundational impact at a company reimagining CAE for the AI era. The company is based in Palo Alto, California, with an address at 531 Howard Street, G/F, San Francisco, CA.
