About the role
We're looking for a Staff Product Designer who has designed for developers or security engineers, thrives in ambiguity, and wants to define what a next-generation AppSec platform looks and feels like.
What you'll do
- Own design strategy across multiple product surfaces, from early problem framing through to shipped experience
- Partner with engineering and product leadership to set direction, not just respond to it
- Mentor the team, establish standards, and raise the bar on craft and process
- Simplify genuinely complex workflows for AppSec engineers and developers — triage, vulnerability detection, policy creation, and AI-powered automation
What you might work on
- Leading the design of Semgrep's workflow automation platform — a greenfield, cross-cutting initiative that rethinks how AppSec is automated out of the box, touching the core information architecture of the entire product
- Designing for developers working in the IDE or through MCP servers
- Shaping AI-powered triage and vulnerability management workflows that security teams will actually trust and use
What we're looking for
- 8+ years of product design experience designing for developers, security engineers, or technical operators
- A portfolio showing 0-to-1 thinking — greenfield features or new product areas, not just iteration
- Experience influencing product direction cross-functionally, not just delivering to spec
- Comfortable shipping — you use AI tooling in your workflow and ideally collaborate on or write code
- Based in San Francisco or New York (hybrid)
