About the role
We are looking for a Software Engineer, Autonomy with 3+ years of experience to join a small, elite team building the autonomy stack for the world's largest drone swarm. You'll be a systems-minded robotics generalist who can reason about perception, planning, and multi-agent coordination—not just one narrow slice. This is a greenfield opportunity to set the technical foundation for how thousands of autonomous assets operate in harmony, controlled by a single operator. The team punches way above its weight, having beaten 100+ engineer competitors with fewer than 10 people, and you'll have outsized impact on critical national security missions.
What will you be doing?
- Building track correlation and multi-target tracking systems across heterogeneous maritime and air assets
- Integrating Swarm Aero's C2 software with third-party hardware—figuring out sensors, vehicle behavior, and communication protocols to control other companies' autonomous systems
- Defining and maintaining the early autonomy architecture, making foundational data-model and systems choices that will scale
- Working across perception, planning, and control to make multiple pieces of hardware operate in coordination—think 10+ systems in harmony, not just one
- Interfacing with real hardware and field constraints, including occasional travel to test sites for integration and validation events
