We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer with 6-10+ years of experience to lead the scale-up and commissioning of our 500 ton per year rare earth metallization plant. You'll join a lean, output-driven team that is reshoring critical metal production to the West with novel, cleaner technologies. This person will take ownership of finalizing detailed engineering, managing vendor relationships, and driving the plant from its current state through construction and commissioning — on time and on budget. You should be someone who has genuinely led a project end to end, can think from first principles, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
What will you be doing?
Finalize detailed engineering for a 500 ton/year vacuum induction furnace and associated plant systems
Place orders with vendors, manage equipment specification, selection, FAT/SAT, and installation
Finalize the plant site and coordinate modifications — raising roofs, new foundations, power, water, gas, and compressed air lines
Own and update core process deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, mass & energy balances, and control narratives
Develop commissioning plans, SOPs, and operator training to bring the plant from construction through startup and ramp-to-rate
Solcoa Industries is building the next generation of American metalmaking, starting with rare earths — the metals that power all electrified motion. Every EV, fighter jet, wind turbine, MRI machine, and data center relies on rare earths, yet virtually all production of these critical metals has been shipped to China, where they're produced using incredibly destructive legacy processes that are illegal in the rest of the world.
Mission: To reshore critical metal production to the West with new, better, cleaner technologies — enabling the world to control its electrified future without relying on destructive legacy processes.
Culture: Solcoa is a lean, output-driven team where every person is essential. The environment is fast-paced, ambitious, and deeply technical, with everything from reactors to furnaces built in-house using their own fabrication shop. No one does busy work.
