The Role In this role at Daylight, you’ll play a critical role in executing our Virtual Power Plant (VPP) and demand response program participation across the country. You’ll develop strategies to drive revenue growth, optimize asset performance, and collaborate with the development team to build an internal platform that integrates revenue stacking, analytics, and operational efficiencies. We're an early-stage startup, so this role goes beyond traditional asset optimization. You’ll support functions related to energy trading, pricing strategies, and risk management while ensuring compliance with program
requirements and internal risk metrics. You’ll also develop partnerships and build operational capabilities to enhance commercial performance. This role is ideal for someone passionate about energy markets and technology who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll shape our analytics platform, integrate key data sources, and develop risk management frameworks—all while having opportunities to grow into a leadership position as we scale. This role is remote with the New York City metro area preferred. Travel to New York City is required for meetings and team building events.
Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Assist in the execution of VPP and demand response program participation across the country. Develop strategies aligned with the company’s business goals and revenue objectives. Assist the development team in building an internal VPP scheduling platform that integrates revenue stacking, operational constraints, and analytics to maximize asset value. Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics to identify business opportunities. Asset Optimization Oversee market activities, including scheduling and dispatch, pricing strategies, and risk management, to optimize asset performance. Build operational capabilities to manage obligations while ensuring BESS warranties, degradation targets, and market participation
requirements are met. Develop partnerships with optimization and scheduling platforms to enhance commercial operations. Market Analytics & Strategy Identify and integrate data sources for energy market forecasting, congestion analysis, and revenue modeling. Maintain expertise in ISO/RTO market structures, energy trading strategies, and risk-adjusted returns for contracted and merchant revenue scenarios. Assess the asset pipeline by market, development timeline, and commercial readiness, developing a roadmap for revenue optimization. What we’re looking for | Must Haves Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). 2+ years of experience in energy market analytics, trading, commercial operations, or asset optimization. Expertise in power markets, risk management, and regulatory
requirements (experience with CAISO, NYISO, PJM, and ERCOT is a plus). Understanding of state-level programs (e.g., CA DSGS, MA Connected Solutions, MA Clean Peak Standard, etc.). Self-motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage cross-functional teams. A results-oriented individual with a proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage their workload effectively, and deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision. Deep knowledge of energy storage optimization, power marketing, revenue forecasting, and market participation strategies. Strong data analytics and modeling experience to support decision-making and risk analysis.
