Senior Software Engineer – FinCore Engineering
Location: Madrid, Spain (Hybrid: 4 days in-office, 1 day remote)
Power the Engine of Global Foreign Exchange
Ebury’s FinCore Engineering team builds the financial backbone of our business. We handle multi-currency accounting systems and real-time foreign currency exchange for thousands of global clients. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help modernize our platform, reduce technical debt, and engineer high-throughput systems operating in a regulated environment. Joining a collaborative, distributed team across Europe and South America, you will lead high-impact initiatives, influence platform architecture, and directly shape our next-generation FX engine.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Architect Next-Gen FX: Design and scale platform services alongside engineering leaders using our Request for Comments (RFC) process.
- Lead end-to-end Delivery: Partner with Product and Operations from initial discovery to production rollout, ensuring seamless alignment across teams.
- Practice Full Ownership: Live our "you build it, you run it" culture—taking complete responsibility for design, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.
- Refactor & Modernize: Analyze legacy workflows, identify technical debt, and execute strategic improvements to elevate platform performance.
- Elevate the Engineering Culture: Mentor junior developers, participate in code reviews, and drive best practices in continuous integration and automated testing.
What You’ll Bring
- System Expertise: Deep experience building complex backend software systems (Python is our primary stack, but strong OOP backgrounds in Java, C#, or Go are welcome).
- Domain Knowledge: Background in FinTech, banking, or regulated financial environments with an understanding of core accounting principles and multi-currency transactions.
- DevOps & Observability: Hands-on experience designing RESTful APIs, integrating monitoring/alerting, and working with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Engineering Standards: Commitment to robust testing (unit/integration) and clean architecture.
- Cross-Border Collaboration: Professional English fluency (written and spoken) to work effectively across time zones.
- Reliability Mindset: Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation to maintain 24/7 service availability.
Why Join FinCore at Ebury?
- Competitive Package: Attractive local salary plus a discretionary performance-based bonus.
- Growth & Certifications: Dedicated budget for professional training, certifications, and technical upskilling.
- Open Source Spirit: We apply open-source principles internally and actively encourage external community contributions.
Think you’re a 80% match? Apply anyway. We value adaptability, domain curiosity, and problem-solving skills over a rigid checklist.
