Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities As a hands-on member of our high-performing, cross-functional agile development team (one of the Berlin-based teams), your primary

responsibilities will include: Product Development & Maintenance: Active, hands-on contribution to the development, scaling, and maintenance of the Optimizely Campaign platform, ensuring robust performance and reliability. Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Guiding junior engineers, conducting rigorous code reviews, and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented engineering culture. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering closely with product managers, UX designers, and fellow engineers within an agile framework to refine

requirements and deliver seamless end-to-end features. Operational Ownership: Monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuously optimizing the performance and security of our core services and components. In this role you will: -Develop features for substantial parts of a highly reliable, scalable and performant omni-channel marketing platform sending billions of personalized messages a month. -Design, implement and run highly scalable data-driven services that ingest, deduplicate, count, aggregate, store, archive, transfer, process and visualize a huge amount of data. -Communicate

requirements as well as technical challenges and decisions to multiple stakeholders. -Drive continuous improvements to the usability, reliability, performance and security of our product. -Conduct high-quality code reviews. -Leverage continuous integration processes and software deployments within responsibility of

the team Knowledge and Experience -5+ years of professional experience designing and developing web applications (specifically with JavaScript/TypeScript (ideally React, frontend focus), Java (backend focus), the Spring framework using different persistence technologies, relational databases like MySQL) -Profound knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, industry-proven software frameworks and engineering best practices for producing high quality code -Basic understanding of software architecture principles and distributed systems -Experience in building, delivering, and maintaining services that comprise modern SaaS products -Experience with agile delivery workflows (Scrum, Kanban) and modern software quality techniques like TDD, pair programming, etc. -Good communication skills to articulate ideas, discuss trade-offs and collaborate with

the team and with stakeholders (e.g. Product team) also with regards to time shifts due to different office locations Education Bachelor’s Degree (Computer Science or engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience Competencies Displaying Technical Expertise Critical Thinking Solving Complex Problems Demonstrating Initiative Delivering High Quality Work Our culture is the most important thing we offer.
