About the role
We are looking for a Founding Attorney with 4+ years of ECVC experience to be the other half of our business. This person will be a high-agency, tech-savvy lawyer from a top firm, excited to own client relationships and directly shape the future of our AI-powered legal platform. What will you be doing?
- Lead venture financings (SAFEs, convertible notes, priced rounds) for a portfolio of startup clients.
- Advise founders on formation, governance, equity, and other day-to-day corporate matters.
- Act as the primary relationship owner for clients, working directly with founders.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to build and refine our legal tech platform.
- Help scale the legal practice as the first attorney hire at an a16z-backed startup.
Key Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in an emerging companies & venture capital (ECVC) practice.
- Background at a top-tier "Big Law" firm is a hard requirement.
- Strong technical capability and fluency with AI tools like Claude.
- Based in the Bay Area and able to work from our San Francisco office 3+ days per week.
- High agency, low ego, and a strong sense of intellectual curiosity.
