About the role
We are building Semiotic. We help designers build tasteful websites faster with AI agents, visual editing, and WYSIWYG react code export.
About us:
We are on the younger side (20-22yo). CEO has worked in the design industry since high school. We met our freshman year at Columbia University. We skipped a ton of class building mooodboard.ai together in our dorm room lounge and worked on an AI-native design firm during our YC batch.
After trying to make AI design just as well as a human designer, we realized that a human designer using AI will always beat AI alone.
This doesn’t apply to all professions, design is unique in this way. Now we’re giving designers jetpacks with AI tooling. We’re starting with a tool for web designers: semiotic.com

- Michael Roberson (Co-Founder & CEO): Amazon UX Design Intern (May 2025 - Aug 2025), Founder & Creative Director at flow.studio (Jan 2020 - Oct 2024), Brand Design Intern at Landor (Feb 2023 - Apr 2023).
- Brandon Yao (Co-Founder & COO): Research at Columbia Business School (Sep 2024 - May 2025), working with the chief economist of OpenAI and Prof. Guzman.
- Bryan Grisales (Co-Founder & CTO): Research Assistant in Columbia CS (Mar 2025 - Jul 2025), Computational Design Lab & Applied AI with Prof. Lydia Chilton.
Hard problems: code-to-canvas mapping, reliable agentic refactors, design-system awareness, and fast preview/export.
Stack: Next.js, React, Tailwind, TypeScript.
