What we're looking for
We need a seasoned engineering manager with 5+ years leading software engineering teams of 8+ people who has real early-stage or high-growth startup experience and a servant-leadership approach to people management. You should be comfortable operating in a fast-moving, fully remote environment where you're empowering senior engineers rather than writing code yourself, and have a track record of hiring, developing, and making tough performance calls. Bonus points if you have founder experience, hands-on AI fluency, or exposure to conversational AI, voice, or telephony systems.
What you'll do
Replicant is building the autonomous contact center — AI that answers every call, decides whether a specific AI agent or a human is best suited to resolve it, and manages the conversation end to end, getting better with every interaction. Founded in 2017 by Gadi Shamia, a veteran of CX innovation, and Benjamin Gleitzman, an accomplished technologist and former contact center agent during his time at MIT, Replicant understood from the start that customer service is just as much an art as it is a science.
Replicant starts with voice — the channel people reach for first and the hardest to automate well — and has been running AI agents in production for enterprises since 2020. The bots Replicant delivers are the product, which means engineering sits unusually close to customer outcomes. This is a genuine AI company building a real AI-based product, not just putting AI on the website.
Customer service is a nearly trillion-dollar problem that is barely one percent automated and moving fast. Replicant's mission since 2017 has been to use AI to resolve as many conversations as possible while elevating human agents to do what they are uniquely good at. The company's platform spans telephony and real-time voice infrastructure, speech recognition and voice models, large language models with model orchestration and failover, reasoning runtimes, bot-building UI and conversation-design tooling, ML infrastructure and evaluation, and big-data analytics for production performance.
Replicant is a Series B company backed by $113M in funding from investors including Norwest, Salesforce Ventures, Stripes, Omega Venture Partners, Costanoa Ventures, Bloomberg Beta, and Atomic. The company is approximately 175 people, with about a third of the company in engineering. Replicant is 100% remote, distributed across the United States and Canada, with intentional in-person gatherings roughly every six weeks.
The company is lean by design — a small, senior team does the work of a group several times its size, and every engineer owns multiple initiatives. Replicant has reinvented its product, its sales process, and how it deploys to customers, and is actively pushing the culture toward a fail-fast, entrepreneurial mentality: try things, make mistakes quickly, learn, and move on.
