About the role
What we're looking for
We need someone with 5–10+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant time as an HR Business Partner, who has run performance and calibration cycles and helped build compensation plans alongside senior leaders. You should be comfortable at a fast-moving, post-Series C AI startup, ideally a company with 250 or more employees, where priorities change daily and you will start contributing right away without much training. You should also have a track record of staying at companies and growing in them, with steady progression and tenure of 2+ years per role. Bonus points if you use AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude every day for reporting, research and communication, and if you have handled SOC 2 or enterprise customer HR audits.
Context: Netomi's North America HR team is currently one person, the Head of HR Operations for North America, who supports about 75 employees across the US and Canada (about 250 globally). The company expects to grow to 350–400 people over the next year, with about 70 roles open. This hire will be a strategic right hand, possibly with a dotted-line report to the Head of HR Operations. They will build relationships with Ops, CS, Deployment and Engineering leaders from scratch. The work splits roughly 50/50 to 60/40 between strategic advising and hands-on employee relations.
What you'll do
- Act as a strategic HR partner to leaders in Ops, Customer Success, Deployment and Engineering, building trust from day one and giving advice on org design, workforce planning and people decisions
- Co-own the twice-yearly performance cycles (September and March) and the calibration process, then use the results to help shape Netomi's compensation philosophy
- Handle complex employee relations work, including investigations, performance concerns, PIPs, leaves of absence and sensitive situations, while coaching managers through difficult conversations in line with US federal and state employment law
- Build and maintain HR metrics and headcount reporting, and support annual operating plan (AOP) and headcount planning as the company scales from about 250 to 350–400+ employees
- Support HR compliance and customer audits (such as SOC 2 for enterprise customers like airlines) by gathering evidence and joining audit calls with the global People team
- Design and roll out programs for engagement, retention, talent reviews and change management, using AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to work faster and communicate clearly
Must-haves
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience (7–10 years ideal), including HRBP experience; bachelor's degree required
- Startup or high-growth tech, SaaS or AI experience, ideally at a company with 250 or more employees
- Hands-on experience with compensation planning, performance calibration, talent reviews and ER for a US workforce
- Confidence working directly with executives in a flat organization
- Stable career history; moving jobs in under 2 years is a red flag
Traits to avoid
- Backgrounds limited to HR operations or recruiting, with no strategic HRBP experience
- Only large enterprise or consulting backgrounds (for example, Accenture) where pay expectations are well above what Netomi offers
