As a Business Manager, you will join a dynamic, fast-paced team at the heart of our growth, with a primary focus on scaling our Train business across Europe.
This is a highly cross-functional role bridging strategy and execution. You will tackle everything from building strategies and managing rail carrier accounts to defining product priorities and exploring new business verticals. Reporting directly to the VP Business, you will be instrumental in making BlaBlaCar the ultimate multimodal marketplace.
Expand & Grow: Drive the expansion of our train distribution business into new European markets and partner with local Growth Managers to boost sales in existing ones.
Optimize Profitability: Develop and execute strategic initiatives to increase train business unit profitability, while continuously monitoring sales performance and costs.
Partnership & Negotiation: Manage high-stakes relationships and lead negotiations with major rail carriers and GDS providers.
Navigate Liberalization: Master and monitor the rapidly evolving, liberalizing European rail environment to proactively detect market threats and unlock new opportunities.
Product & Engineering: Act as the business anchor to define short- and long-term train roadmap priorities alongside Product and Engineering teams.
Operational Excellence: Interface with Finance, Legal, and Customer Care teams to ensure seamless, compliant, and scalable train business operations.
B2B: Discover and launch new B2B revenue streams for our train vertical
Explorations & Discoveries: Beyond trains, benchmark new supplies or verticals
Secondary Markets Ownership: Manage secondary European markets without a General Manager.
Agile Strategy: Pivot and support ad-hoc, high-impact business projects as priorities evolve in a fast-paced environment.
Education: Master’s Degree in Business / Management / Finance from a Business School, University, or equivalent.
Experience: 2–3 years of experience in management consulting, high-growth startups, or business development.
Analytical & Structured: Outstanding analytical skills with the ability to turn data into actionable business strategies and strong project management skills.
Commercial Acumen: A sharp business instinct, entrepreneurial mindset, and a proven track record (or high comfort level) with negotiation and account management.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, agility, capacity to multitask, a positive attitude, and a collaborative team-player mentality.
Languages: Full professional proficiency in French and English. A third European language is a strong asset.
Bonus Points: Prior experience or deep familiarity with the rail and travel tech industry.
