About the role
About Dimensional Dimensional is building the foundation for physical intelligence in general-purpose robotics. We develop a unified framework that enables robots to perceive, reason, learn, and act across diverse real-world environments and embodiments. Dimensional’s mission is to make physical intelligence programmable, scalable, and accessible -- accelerating the development of generalist robots that can adapt, learn, and perform reliably in the real world. Our platform sits between robot hardware and AI models, providing a modular, composable architecture for training and deploying robotic intelligence at scale. By abstracting hardware differences and standardizing core capabilities—such as perception, spatial understanding, decision-making, and control—Dimensional allows developers and partners to build, transfer, and operate robotic skills efficiently across platforms. About This Role We’re looking for a Forward-Deployed Engineer to work directly at the intersection of customers, software, and physical robotic systems. This role is about closing the last 10%: taking cutting-edge robotics software and making it work reliably in real-world environments. You’ll partner closely with end users to understand their workflows, deploy systems in the wild, and translate real-world constraints into product and engineering improvements. While experience with physical hardware is a plus, our core mission is to dramatically lower the barrier to deploying robots — strong software engineers with customer-facing experience are encouraged to apply. Core
Responsibilities Deploy, configure, and adapt the Dimensional robotics platform in real-world customer environments. Partner directly with users to gather
requirements, understand operational constraints, and identify edge cases encountered in production. Serve as a key interface between product, engineering, and customers, ensuring tight feedback loops and rapid iteration. Own end-to-end real-world implementations, from initial system setup and validation through stable, long-term operation. Contribute production-quality, maintainable code to the core platform codebase, informed by deployment learnings. Help define, document, and standardize best practices for deploying and operating robotic systems at scale. What We Look For Prior experience in forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or other customer-facing technical roles. Strong software engineering fundamentals, including the ability to design, implement, and maintain production-quality systems. Comfort working with real-world systems characterized by incomplete information, hardware constraints, and operational uncertainty. Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous customer
requirements into well-defined technical solutions and execution plans. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred
Qualifications Demonstrated experience deploying and operating physical hardware systems in real-world environments. Professional background at forward-deployed or deployment-intensive organizations (e.g., Palantir, Anduril, or similar). Prior exposure to robotics, embedded systems, automation, or related physical systems domains.
About Dimensional
Dimensional is building the operating system for general-purpose robotics — the foundational software layer that sits between robot hardware and AI models, enabling robots to perceive, reason, learn, and act across diverse real-world environments.
Think of Dimensional as what Windows was to the personal computer. Before Windows, computers ran on fragmented DOS-based interfaces that weren't built for people to build on or use. Dimensional is doing the same for robotics: creating a unified, developer-first platform that enables software engineers, roboticists, and hobbyists to deploy and operate robots without stitching together 10 fragmented open-source tools.
The platform provides a modular, composable architecture for training and deploying robotic intelligence at scale. By abstracting hardware differences and standardizing core capabilities — perception, spatial understanding, navigation, decision-making, and control — Dimensional allows developers and partners to build, transfer, and operate robotic skills efficiently across platforms and embodiments.
Key highlights:
- $30M raised — making Dimensional one of the best-capitalized software robotics startups in the space
- Open source — the entire platform is available on GitHub, attracting a mission-driven engineering community
- Hardware distribution partnerships — Dimensional is the distributor for two of the largest robotics hardware OEMs in the world, giving them unique go-to-market leverage
- Second-time founder — CEO Stosh previously dropped out of MIT and co-founded Mock Industries, now valued at $1.8B after raising $500M
- Early and lean — ~10 people in the SF office, almost entirely engineers and the founder. Product-focused, flat structure, high ownership
Dimensional is actively deploying across verticals including security, agriculture, and data centers, with a rapidly scaling commercial go-to-market motion backed by forward-deployed engineers working directly with customers on real-world robotic deployments.
