About the role
You'll build Lola end to end: the agent that plans and books in one conversation, the ranking and retrieval system that decides what it shows, the partner integrations behind it, and the web app and infrastructure under all of it. Nobody owns a domain here. You'll turn what LLMs can do into a product that gets real bookings right, not just good answers.
What you'll work on
- Personalization. Learn what actually matters about each person, including (with their consent) from their email, and use it to make better hotel and restaurant recommendations.
- Ranking and retrieval. The options the model chooses from should already fit the person. We build our own ranking, retrieval, and recommendation system on top of what we know about each user, instead of relying only on frontier models.
- The agent. Planning and booking in one conversation: multi-turn reasoning, tool calls, streaming, rich UI, and real money on the line.
- Coverage. Help people book any place they want, including places we can't book directly.
How we work
Most of the work here starts as a large, loosely defined problem. We shape it together: talk it through, sketch it out, disagree about it. Then it's yours to build, with the rest of the team a few feet away. We sit together, work across each other's code, and ship to production every day.
The work doesn't stay inside engineering. You'll work directly with our partners' business teams, our marketing and finance teams, and our CEO. We keep process light, so clear writing and clear conversation do a lot of the work that process does elsewhere.
Who we'd like to meet
We'd like to meet you if you've been building with LLMs since the early models and your approach has changed as they've improved. We'd also like to meet you if you have opinions about hotels and restaurants and can explain them. And we want someone who will tell us when they think we're wrong. We care more about judgment and taste than about any single specialty.
We are looking for people who want a hard job they can be proud of: open problems, a high bar, and work that shows up in the product the day you ship it.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 1+ years of full-time engineering experience.
- Work in person in New York City.
