This position is responsible for end-to-end 24x7 operational leadership, ensuring continuous coverage, effective prioritization of critical activities, and timely response to high-priority alerts and incidents. The Shift Leader will take strong ownership of major incident and outage management, including rapid impact assessment, war-room initiation, cross-functional stakeholder coordination, and clear leadership and customer communications throughout the incident lifecycle. The role also requires a proactive, technology-driven operational mindset, leveraging cloud, infrastructure, DevOps, monitoring/observability, automation, and AI-assisted tools to identify risks, improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and prevent recurring issues. Overall, the position requires a high degree of autonomy, technical depth, operational discipline, and incident leadership to maintain service reliability and customer experience.

Knowledge:

Strong expertise in 24x7 IT operations, major incident management, cloud/infrastructure, DevOps, monitoring/observability, ITSM, automation, and AI-enabled operations. Ability to rapidly troubleshoot, assess impact, prioritize actions, and coordinate cross-functional teams.

Complexity:

Handles high-impact, time-critical, and concurrent operational issues requiring rapid decision-making, prioritization, escalation, and resource utilization. Expected to proactively identify risks, recurring issues, and automation opportunities to improve service reliability and operational efficiency.

Supervision:

Works with high autonomy and minimal supervision, owning shift operations end-to-end. Independently leads critical incidents, war rooms, stakeholder communications, and operational decisions, escalating only matters requiring higher-level intervention.

5. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List the key duties and responsibilities and essential functions of the role)

• 24x7 Operations Ownership – Lead shift operations end-to-end, ensuring service availability, operational coverage, workload prioritization, and effective resource utilization.
• Major Incident & Outage Management – Lead critical incidents from detection to resolution, including impact assessment, war-room initiation, escalation, cross-functional coordination, and service restoration.
• Cloud & SaaS Infrastructure Operations – Ensure operational health of cloud infrastructure and SaaS services across compute, networking, databases, storage, security, availability, backup, and DR.
• Monitoring & Observability – Proactively monitor applications and infrastructure, identify service degradation, critical alerts, capacity risks, and recurring issues before they impact customers.
• SLA/SLO & Service Reliability – Drive adherence to SLA/SLO and availability targets, reduce MTTR, analyse operational trends, and implement preventive actions to improve service reliability.
• Stakeholder & Leadership Communication – Provide timely, accurate, and structured communications during incidents, outages, and operational risks to leadership, customers, and relevant stakeholders.
• Automation & Continuous Improvement – Identify and eliminate manual processes using automation, orchestration, AI-assisted tools, and scripting to improve efficiency, reliability, and operational scalability.
• Operational Governance & Shift Continuity – Ensure compliance with SOPs, runbooks, change processes, security controls, and audit requirements while maintaining effective shift handovers and 24x7 operational continuity.

Work Experience - 7-10 years industry experience with hands-on

 

Knowledge

·       Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP), Windows, Linux, Networking, Monitoring, Infra tools, & AI.

 

Skills and Abilities

·       Strong communication, Azure or AWS certification with hands-on experience, ITIL Foundation, server administration, Active directory, group policies, AI assisted troubleshooting, automation with devops tool chain, monitoring tools, logical, analytical, and lateral thinking.
